CB Radio wiring
Hey everyone. I'm installing a CB Radio in my 2000 blazer, I've removed the cassette player in the center console. But I was wondering, can I use the wires that ran to the cassette player to power the cb? If so which wire is hot? If not how did you wire in your cb.. The mounting and wire running isn't hard for me but I have to admit actually knowing where to get the power from always trips me up on projects like this.. Thanks.

if you still have your stock radio one of the wires in the cassette harness should be power... not sure which one it would be. I mounted my cb there but I have an aftermarket radio so I had to run power from the battery.

depends on how likely you are to forget and leave it on, if you forget a lot, then wire it to an accessory that depends on the car running like the radio, just splice into the radio power and ground the cb onto the frame somewhere. if you have a modded radio youll probably want to go straight off the battery with an inline fuse. or just run a power wire off the central fuse block. i think there is a switched and unswitched side to it. whatever you do i would be redundant in placing fuses, no more than 4 inches away from the battery.
