Anything is possible. I made an adapter to convert the radio plug in my wife's Hyundai Elantra to the same plug on my 04 Blazer, so I can hot swap radios if I ever want to, plus getting aftermarket radio adapters is a lot easier for the Blazer's generic GM plug than the Elantra...
With the newer style, you really only need the larger plug. I believe the smaller one is for systems with Bose audio, which incorporates a stand alone amp and all, so I wouldn't even try to get into that... But all you would need is the pinouts and a couple plugs to just make a adapter harness. I certainly wouldn't go hacking up the wiring in the dash just to change the plug... |

It's important to note that the newer style radio you show are VIN coded to the BCM. They have to be program matched to the BCM by a GM Tech tool. You can't just plug one in and have it work. I'm not 100% positive, but I doubt the older style BCM can be programmed to use the newer style radio if that's what you're trying to do.
I think your project might be a lot more involved and difficult than just changing over the wiring harness and plugging in the new radio. |
