curious enclosure question

I tried searching but no luck. For the audio experts on here-- I currently have a Premier 2504spl 10" sub in an enclosed box powered by a Soundstorm 1200 watt amp. I know everyone hates bass tubes, but I havnt come across anyone whos swapped the sub for their own. In other words-- If I put my sub in a tube will it sound like crap? Its out of curiousity.

If its one of those prefab tubes yes it will sound like crap.

If your talking about a sonotube . you can get some pretty good bass.

What you need is Sonotube (can be picked up at a lowes or home depot) Then you need to construct some MDF Baffles. Then matt and resin.

Your set.

heres the equation needed to calculate the volume v=pie(r^2)h

wow thanks this might be a good/fairly cheap experiment

more questions-- please forgive my ignorance, Ive never tried this before

what if instead of the sonotube treated with resin, I use a thick pvc pipe and insulate it. Would that be rigid enough?

also, how would I go about making baffles

RE: curious enclosure question

You prolly wanna still resin them for strength.

For the baffle just cut MDF rings.

iirc this is what Scott Owens was using before he switched to the 6th order.
