the child aspect is completely understandable. my brother is installing head rest tvs in his Avalanche for his daughter so she can watch her cartoons on car rides.
if you're just trying to do that, you can have the controls up front with the screens in the rear. You can have a radio single din and a dvd single din in the same area. i'm confusing i know. you can have the radio as the top single din and the dvd player as the lower single din. that way you don't have to listen to the dvd player sound track while your kids watch the movie. |

question, how do soundstream headunits sound? my local shop has them but they have all the speakers on amps. i want a double-din for built in gps but dont want to spend an arm and a leg and dont want to go cheap. i like soundstream though.

i can't tell you how the sound stream sound without amp because my shop too has the speakers amped.
my brother's avalanche had stock speakers run off his Pioneer Avic and the speakers sounded better but no where near as good as amped |

see my problem is i have one of the top notch alpine units so everything else sounds like shiz to me compared to it. i guess it doesnt matter anyway considering ill be getting an amp for the mids and highs. ill say though i am impressed with there rubicon amps. they sound good and look sexy. :D

Jeez, what the heck was up with me last night!? Sorry 'bout that. I've actually been looking into a Kenwood unit with dvd and gps, video and all that. I can totally see how it'd be useful if you have kids. I've even found myself wishing I had one while I'm sitting in the truck watching videos on my iPhone while waiting for my girlfriend to get out of the bank. So I don't know what the eff I was talking about last night. :/

Kenwood are good but for the money i would go with the JVC KW-NT3HDT the other guy that works here with me he bought it and i would say its one of the better head units that i have seen and installed for the money($850). We have sold over a dozen of them in the past 2 weeks.
