Default HU installation prob, quick help!

'00 Jimmy. Replacing Factory radio with a JVC HU. I got an aftermarket harness to use with existing harness. Wired up, the radio only gets power if constant and switched are together, having to turn it on manually and it doesn't save settings. So, no constant right? Well, I read that from the car's harness, the orange wire is constant, and yellow is switched. I pulled them from the harness and connected them separately to the HU and it gets no power at all. Worst case, I can put it back to the way it was, just need to know where to attach the constant inside the car. And if anyone knows why it doesn't work through the harness, that'd be nice. Thanks for your help.

I may be reading this wrong but if your looking for a constant power line. Look for the power wire running from the fuse box(interior) labeled RADIOBATT i believe it is. Thats what it should be to if im not mistaken.

The harness thing is kinda uuuhhh Idk lol

hope that helped if it didnt let me know and I'll try again lol

Yeah, I dunno what's wrong with the harness. Alright, I found where the fuse is at. Looks like the wire from it is a double orange wire, thin. What's the best way to attach it? Just splice into one of the two orange wires? I've never had to deal with this installing a radio before ha.

Use a voltmeter. One wire will have constant voltage, and the other.... well you'll know when you use the leads.

your 12v constant will be on a seperate plug. there will be an orange and yello wire in the plug.

yea.....on the other installs ive done it's been easy identifying which is which cuz they are tagged
except on this blazer its a bit different and it threw me off....so i know ill have to use a voltimeter
and the color coded thing wont work cuz the harness has been messed with before

thanks
