I can hear my engine in my speakers!?!?
 

Okay... I bought a new deck for my 94 Blazer back in Feburary. Then I bought new speakers a little later on in March. They were some Kenwood pieces of ****. I switched over to some nice Polk Audio speakers about a month ago. From the point when I had my Kenwoods to this day I've had a noise in my speakers. I could hear my engine's RPM's through my speakers. And when I'm on the freeway with my cruise control on its a steady noise to the RPM's.

My question is... is what could the noise be???

How can I find/fix the noise???

Please explain with as little detail, I'm not a professional at this.

(By the way... my power wire runs down the passenger's side and my remote wire and RCA wires run on the drivers side. My ground is grounded behind the back door panel and not on a seat bolt)

So are you running a 4 channel? What kind of deck?

its gotta be a bad ground wire somewhere. they make a inline filter that is easy to intall, but if the ground is really bad it probably wont help much. if the ground wire from radio was not crimped together or wire nutted it may of come loose. if u have a amp start there. painted metal will some times not be a good ground. sterio shops dont give a f#$$ even tho they know this. sand or scratch paint then tighten. hope this helped,good luck

oh and i had a similar problem once when the rca connection inside the amp got old and loose.(couldnt fix) but it wasnt quite the same noise plus cutting in and out. or bad rca plugs or wire? sounds like bad ground tho. unplug the amp (red) power wire. or inline fuse on amp power wire (usually under hood by battery)i always pull it first whenever i work on amp to avoid any accidental arc. if radio sounds good without amp running, direct your attention to amp side. if its still noisy its probably something in stereo side. just saw the guy above seams to know his stuff. he should be able to help. im just a jack of all trades, master of none. lol

The best ground is the battery. If you can run the ground for the amp directly to the Neg battery post that should fix it. Also if you get a grounding block you can tie all you grounds together to eliminate any ground loops.

your remote wire is apower wire and could be causing interference. but mos likely not. Th ground is suspect. try grounding directly to the frame as short as possible.

I think I figured it out. I do not have a 4 channel amp or anything special like that. I read up somewhere that it could be the USB charger I had plugged into the cigarette lighter. I don't know why that would cause an interference, but I think it worked. I can't hear the noise when I'm cruisin, but I'm gonna wait untill I drive back home tomorrow night before making the verdict that it is indeed fixed. I hear the noise most when I kick on the cruise control on the freeway and that's when it is most annoying.

my cell phone charger will also cause interference if i have my phone plugged in charging while playing music off of it. It's possible thats what your problem was
