and the max demi was 33w 17tall 12 deep but can be up to 20 deep if it can be shortend from 33, the box I have in there is a PITA to get in, its 33w 16.5t 20d so it needs to be smaller then that. with what I read in the IA manual for the LI series its gonna need to be a total of 3cubes before diplacment.

The IA recommended enclosure size according to their list in their section on SSA is from 1.75 to 3cuft and 2.5cuft as optimal. It's a little older listing and I have an email out to IA about what they recommend now and if it's the same.

It looks to me like 2.5 would still be pretty optimal for the sub and with a little work modeling things I designed this enclosure to 2.6cuft NET. It's tuned to 32hz and has a little over 40sqin of port area. It should be a rockin box. Here's a simple drawing showing the dimensions on the individual panels and the cut sheet. Let me know if you need anything else for this.

I have the sheet that says the suggested parameters. and a lot of people are saying that sub trunk port side would sound the best. ????

Here are the recommended ported box specs for a 12” driver: 1.5 to 3 cubes per driver ported –12 to 16 inches of port per cube - 20 to 40 inches of port. Most common 2 to 2.5 cubes at 25 to 35 inches. Tuning 32-37 Hz

The 2.6 will be great. I modeled the sub in everything from 1.75 to 3 and nothing audible is gained from running it in anything larger than that. Not to mention that this design will fit better, it's shorter and narrower than your previous enclosure.

I guess it would help to post the exact external dimensions: 30" W x 20" D x 14" H

guess its time to see how much the shop would charge if I already have a design, because I want it all prettied up because this is the final box to go in, I don't want a huge system in my grand prix but I want it to rock your socks off (single sub setups :D) just go to decide which amp I want to pull the trigger on :/

I can't help with the shop, but on the amp you should just get whichever one you can find the best deal on. With all the amps on the market and so many that share the same internals it's really hard to find any advantage of one over another until you get into the big price brands. At the budget you're looking at that's not an issue.

The PPI gets my vote out of the three you were considering. It's a powerful, clean and efficient amp that easily fits the budget.

I would just get another q1200 but I found out its only 84% Efficient

ONLY 84% efficient??!!??!! As measured by who? As measured by what equipment? As measured by what standards?

First of all that's REALLY efficient in the world of car audio amplifiers, REALLY efficient. Especially when you compare it to a Class AB amplifier which anything over 50% is great. Second of all it's impossible to know with any certainty how accurate that efficiency rating is. There are many painstaking steps to ensure accurate measurements of anything and I can guarantee with a fair amount of certainty that the efficiency rating that is published is not 100% accurate. The few I've seen that were done properly were that high with a 4 ohm load and went down each time the load did. I saw a test by a reputable engineering firm on an Audison Class D (high end amp) that was 85% efficient at 4 ohms. It dropped to 81% at 2 ohms and went to a dismal in comparison 69% at 1 ohm.

If you want to get another Q1200 go for it. It would be a fine amp on that sub. The one nice thing about the PPI or similar is having the overhead and another is it's a little cheaper. In the end it's all up to you but I don't see how 84% efficiency, or anything better than a Class AB would affect a purchasing decision.


What coil configuration did you get on the LI?

1 it says its 84% on soundqubeds website. 2 I got it in D2 so I can run it at 1ohm
