My tax money at work (Audio Build)
So I got my refund...and then blew it on this..
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5451/7...b2a88b3919.jpg Upgrades :) Not even installed yet. Still have to build a custom sub box to hold the subs and both amps. Much work ahead but if your interested in checking it out I plan on documenting a decent portion of it. The only thing I got to put in was http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5113/6...012cbaccfa.jpg Pioneer 80PRS Audio System: Head Unit - Pioneer 80PRS Front - JBL MS52C Component speakers Rear - JBL GTO938 (3 ways) Speaker Amp - JBL GTO504EZ Subs - (2) JBL MS12D4 Sub Amp - JBL GTO7001 Total RMS wattage around 800W give or take |
Nice! I like how you kept everything JBL. That Pioneer headunit has had really amazing results. My buddy has the same one and the auto EQ/time alignment really works wonders.

Made some progress today. Here is the stock bracket for the dash on the right and what I had to do to make the new tweeter fit on the left.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7110/6...af7341dfc0.jpg Then here is the new tweeter mounted in the bracket. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5275/6...01a6acf737.jpg I can't wait to here what this all sounds like. Sub box construction starts tomorrow! I bought the fleece and resin today. Ill post pictures |
Got the box frame done today. Just have to wrap and fiberglass and maybe it will start to look like something. Anyone have any pointers on how to wire the tweeters from the crossover I'm putting in the door? seems impossible to get to the boot bridging the door and cabin.

More progress
So I never knew how much of a pain in the ass it is to get the back panels off in a 2 door blazer. Still got the job done so progress I made yesterday:
- Ran speaker wire from both rear speakers to where amp will be - Replaced both rear speakers - Mounted both tweeters and ran wires to crossover - Ran 3 pairs of dual RCA cables down drivers side (tight squeeze) - Amp to front crossover wired Check out some photos Stock rear speaker magnet vs new http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5468/6...ac3b712999.jpg by Stock rear speaker vs. new http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5446/6...29f705d9b4.jpg by http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5193/6...3bb314d835.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7095/6...054fa05aef.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7044/7...3a8d260b8b.jpg |
Install progress
All the speakers are in and wired. I had to build a bracket for the front door. Guess they don't fit 5 1/4 stock. You can see an image of that below. I don't no why my back speakers make a noise with the volume all the way down. It not a hum like power running next to a audio line...gotta troubleshoot that. The sub box frame got wrapped in fleece and I've only gotten to put one coat of resin so far. Still needs about 3 layers of fiberglass. Let me know what you think! And if you have any ideas on what my rear speaker noise could that would be helpful.
