No sound on front speakers...

Hi,
There's a problem on my '95 Blazer, my front speakers don't work !

The stereo works good, rear speakers too, but no sound on front. I've changed my stereo, same result.

Anybody here had a similar problem ?

The speakers are either shot or there's an issue in the wiring. Find a spare speaker from somewhere and connect it to the wires where each of your front speakers are. If it plays then the wires are good and the speakers are crapped out. If it doesn't play then there's a chance something has gone awry in your wiring. My money would be on the speakers crapping out, especially if they're the originals.

That's what I tought, but the two speakers dead ? Generally we can hear a little sound, but in my case there is nothing. I must remove the door panel to test...

hit up autozone etc. they got some cheap crappy speakers for like 5 bucks. size doesnt matter. try one,if no sound its the head unit. our stock wire is built like a tank. doubt its that.

I've got some speakers at home, I'll test it... Do I must break the rivets to get the speaker connector ?

altoncustomtech 09-12-2013 07:52 AM

The rivets should only be holding the speaker mounting baffle to the door. The speaker itself should have four screws holding it to that plastic baffle. Sometimes there's a foam tape that is stuck to the outside edge of the speaker and the screws can be underneath that.

Ok thanks I'll check that tomorrow !

Well, I've tested with another speaker, it works !

Is it a standard size ? Or I must buy an adapter ?

altoncustomtech 09-13-2013 04:20 PM

It's pretty much a standard 6"/6.5" size. Most aftermarket speakers mounting holes won't line up with the factory ones, but that's not a big deal since the baffles are plastic.

Building custom baffles to mount new speakers to would be he best course of action but takes more work to install.

Standard size here in France are 13cm and 16cm ... The closer size is 16cm : 6.2"
Or maybe I can import ones from ebay.
