Nominal Impedance

How bad is it that I have my impedance on my subs lower than my amp??

RE: Nominal Impedance

they re the same. If your subs are wired to 1 ohm, then the amp is at 1 ohm. 2 to 2, 4 to 4.

RE: Nominal Impedance

I thought that you had to have an amp that could handle the 1 ohm to wire your subs at 1 ohm?

RE: Nominal Impedance

thats true, but the wiring on your subs determines the load the amp see's

you cannot have your subs wired for 2 ohms and run your amp at 1 or any other variation. they must be the same.

RE: Nominal Impedance

Right, so what I read from his question is "how bad is it that I wired my subs for (lets say as an example) 2 ohm and my amp is only a 4 ohm amp"

Does that make sense? I am reading that he wired his subs to an ohm level that his amp can't handle possibly.....

RE: Nominal Impedance

correct, if you have a 1 ohm capable amp, and you can wire your subs to 1 ohm, then great. whatever you wire your subs up to, the amp will be at that same level. So, if you have dual 4 ohms vc/s then you r amp will either see a 2 or 8 ohm load. If you have dual 2 ohms subs, then your amp will either see a 1 or 4 ohm load. If you have 2 dual 2 ohm subs then your amp will see a 2 or 8 ohm load depending on how you wire them. If you have 2 dual 4 ohm subs, then your amp will either see a 1 ohm or 4 ohm load.

RE: Nominal Impedance

Still, we would need to know what his amp can handle, then what he has them wired up to

for more specific help, what is the equipment?
