possible sound setup..need some help
 

ok, i have the stock bose system in my 02 blazer, and im going to replace almost the entire thing at once, i was thinking this setup:

what do you guys think? im not looking for competition grade sound, just some good thump and sound quality. also, is there anything i need to know about hooking up the sound processor? like a good location as well as a basic idea of how to hook it up would be awesome!

not a bad combo but i would make two little changes.

1) Sound processor: i would run 16-18 gauge wire fresh to all the speakers and use that kicker 4 channel amp for those. then use an active processor unit that has better "on the fly" adjustments. Here is an example but you can use what you wish - and i would use one that has RCa input and output.

2) the L5 subs are 600 rms each, and dual 4 ohm coils - they have them wired at 4 ohm final. I would rewire them down to 1 ohm and use a 800 - 1100 rms at 1 ohm amp with them.

but thats just me - though i would push on the second thing a lot more than the first.

as for a sound processor, im not really looking for an eq sort of thing, just something to rid me of the bass curve of the stock headunit. if anybody knows a good way of going about installing a sound processor, let me know please!
also, how much dissassembley of my interior would installing new wire to all my speakers require? im trying to keep this relativley hassle free.

Thats not a fantastic idea, we did that with my l5's and actually put 800 watts rms to them and fried the vc's in the matter of a week. If you're going to go this route find the 2 ohm version of those subs.

Stay away from polk's junk. I know pioneer makes some nice 4/6's

Alpine made an amazing 4x6 plate, i had them and so do a lot of ppl off s-10 forums.

there are things called "Bass Blockers" that you can buy at audio shops and such that will stop the bass to the door speakers. not really adjustable per say but it will handle any headunit i know of and it will be a total $20.

If you install a amp or two for the door/dash speakers then it will have a crossover that you can set to cancel out bass and such built into it. Here is a cheap 4 channel amp that would solve those issues for you.

anybody have any experience w/ the pioneer 1.5 din head? i wanted to keep the stock for the steering wheel controls but if the pioneers worth it..
and, the 4x6 plates i wanna put in the dash have seperate woofers/tweeters so will the crossover cancel the signal to the woofers, rendering them useless?

i had infinities plate speaker just like that one, and it distorted alot, bass blockers might fix this.

all you really need is a good 6 1/2 inch comp. set with about 100 watts each.

Assuming you have a 2 door blazer, think about this option.

1. New head unit
2. components for the front (mount tweeters in the 4x6 dash holes like i did, or put them in the door panel) powered by channels 1 and 2 of a 4 channel amp
3. new 6x9 for the rear powered by the head unit
4. subwoofer powered off bridged channels 3 and 4 of the 4 channel amp

This saved me from running two amps, and the rear speakers are kinda pointless in a 2 door, especially if no one ever sits back there

i have an 86 blazer and plan on making custom kick panel for component 6.5". i right now have the infinity plate speakers in the dash. what i want to do is to mount the crossover in the dash. have the tweeters be the infinity plate speakers and woofers be in the kick panels.
