yes, you can use a spare batt, but you have to link it up to the other one... instead of doing that, I suggest that you run either an optima yellow top batt (or equivelent), or a bigger truck/diesel truck (like a diesel pickup or van) batt. You want something deep cycle or with high cold cranking amps. 1000-1200 cold cranking amps will do just fine. Neons and LCD's don't create a very heavy draw, so you have a lot of room to play. you can also consider a bigger alternator, like one from a corvette or heavy duty truck, you just might need to change the pulley. these are just a few low budget solutions. Try to stay away from asking " What do I need? " at your local car audio electronics shop, they just want to make money so they will sell you the world if they can.
