removing dash form a 96

I'm not sure if its just me or I'm not doing it right but I can't seem to get the dash panel off. The one time I did have it off I broke the hazard switch off(whoops) and it was still real tricky. Is there some sort of trick to getting this bugger off or am I just 2 steps behind every one else?

It is VERY hard to take that sucker out of there, and I did break my Hazard switch also but I found (after removing it several times) that you have to tilt your steering wheel down as far as possible and pull fro the inside of the vehicle (radio part) toward the drivers' side door...to me it seemed easier that pulling it straight out... GOOD LUCK and don't break anything else...

youre actually supposed to start by loosening the panel below the main dash bezel to give the bezel some room to pivot and move. like djremix said, you have to hold the steering column in the furthest position down, and i hold my hazard switch down to keep from breaking it while pulling.

On this generation of blazers and S-10 trucks, it is better to lower the steering column when removing the head unit. To do this, you will remove the lower dash and the knee bolster. Looking up, you will see to 15mm (I think) nuts that are under the steering column. Loosen these nuts and you will see the steering column drop roughly 1".

This will make it easier to remove the dash pieces around the instrument cluster and better prevent breaking the hazzard switch. Just remember not to remove the nuts, as the column will drop.

Hope this helps!!!
