Default sirius deck adapter

ok so I have the kenwood KDC-X990 deck and a sirius plug and play setup 1 cable from deck to box, and then the antenna wire. dead simple install. i do have the extra ground wire on my deck so thats not a problem.

trouble is, when i first turn my truck on and the deck fires up, sirius wont connect--its just sits on the waiting screen. if i turn my deck off for a few seconds and then back on it works right away, but its a pain in the *** to have to do that every time.

im hoping its just something in the sirius box that screwed up, because i have a year warranty so no big deal

just wondering if you guys have any ideas as to what the problem could be? [:@] thanks!

PS---its done this since right out of the box. [>:]

2 things.

Is this an adapter that u put the adapter peice back inside ur dash or is it like the XM roady thing?

Once it was installed. Did you call sirus to activate? Also it has to be in a WIDE OPEN AREA so they can send the data to ur unit. Clear view of the southern skys. cant be in the garage or anything.

Make sure you have a reliable ground for the adapter AND make sure u have a good 12v power line. I have mine connected to a fuse on the fuse block inside the truck

ok this is the adapter I'm using

antenna blockage is no problem--clear day, wide open parking lot, still does it.
there is nowhere for me to put a ground on the adapter---just a spot for the deck plug in, the antenna plug in, and a place to plug in a changer if i had one.

like i said it will work great once the deck has been turned off and then back on, but NEVER before then. also theres no power wires to run as it comes with a 5L bus cable which plugs into a port on the deck and another on the adapter box.

lol sounds good---where did you mount yours? mine's jammed into the space behind the glovebox on the right---bend the tabs over and push it in and up and it will never move!!! i've gone wheeling (im pretty rough with my truck lol) and it still hasnt budged!!

BTW sirius is the greatest thing i've put in my truck so far next to my sound system!!! [8D]

The control box on mine is behind the glove box. the adapter peice is back behind my rear wiper peice. then that goes to the HU.

Did you get it workin or no?

i still have to reset the deck when i start my truck--but it works great

the techs at sirius have no idea--they said to try another box--if its not that then it must be something in my deck screwed up [:@]
