Spend my money for me!

Well, to a degree.

I am in the market for some new speakers. I need some 6.5"s for the doors, and 6x9's for the rear. I also have the tweeter in the dash, but I'm not sure if they're worth replacing or not.

Here's where you come in. I have gift cards at Futureshop, and it's probably the best audio place in town sadly. Only other place sells just Clarion and JL stuff.

I was wondering if you guys would like to go through the site and let me know which you recommend and why! I'd like to keep the install easy, plug and play ideally.

I'm looking to not spend any more than $140 for the fronts and $200 for the rears.

Have fun, and let me know! :icon_clapclap:

Umm... lol. Just to help on the input, I'm no audio or electric pro, but the mtx's look good and are currently on sale too.

If you are looking to get all the same brand, I would get mtx's all the way around then. They make quality stereo equipment and speakers as well from my experience. I'm no audiophile, but they seem to have crisp sound and are a good bang for the buck. Just my .02.

But like I said, everyone is going to have a different opinion, maybe a poll is in order? lol.

That's okay! I just want to hear opinions and get an idea of what's good to go with or not. Also forgot to mention the speakers will be powered by a Kenwood DDX318 and no additional amps.

I was going to, but then with shipping being pricey I decided not to! :icon_teeth:

forget wasting money on the rears and spend that money up front. wen you go to a concert, whre does all the sound come from? thats right! in front of you. Are these speakers going to be amped?

zedartwo Jul 21, 2011 10:45 AM

bobditts is right. If you still want to replace your rears, I would switch your budget around. spend more up front because rear speakers are for the people in the rear.

MTX is good. Best bassy speaker Future **** sells. If you want better sound all together go with infinity Kappa they are $249 for 6.5s and Pioneer 3 ways for the back. they are $99. Best thing to do is go into that little room with all the speakers. Bring a good CD or something. Stand in the middle and see what you like. Try all MTX, then another brand. Then just mix and match. It what suits your needs.

I kinda tested that out but they have the audio in a corner of the store. Some speakers sound lightyears better than the other, so it really makes me question the install job, and the state that the speakers are in.

Edit: The Infinity Reference are on sale now. Also decent speakers?

I heard from someone else that the Alpines are pretty decent too. Also my budget was aimed that way because the rears of the same speaker typically cost more.

Would I be best to go with some 2-way speakers? I could go with the Kenwood 3-ways for the sake of going all Kenwood. Also, should I look into changing out the 4x6 dash tweeters too? I hear that can be a real pain though.

Could also check out the Clarions at the other audio shop. I'll wait for a nice sale too. Damn I'm hopeless at audio lol.

i took the dash speakers out and put tweeters in there. i put a cap on the tweeter. they really brought the sound up from the ground where my kick panels are. im running a pretty big tweeter but im sure you would get similar results.
