Default Stock radio weird beeping

Hello,

New guy here....I made a brief post in the new members thread. I just bought a 2002 S-10 Blazer 4 door this week, and it has a weird thing with the stock cassette radio. When I turn the key to on, or start the engine, 11 rapid fire beeps come out of the speakers. The radio functions and plays music, I just have no idea what the beeping is all about. I don't ever remember hearing an S-series do that in my 22 year technician career. As I said, it's a cassette radio with TheftLock. No RDS or Bose. Tweeters in the dash pods. Right front door speaker rattles/is blown I think, and the right rear door speaker is totally inop. Is that causing the beep? Like, maybe a fault alarm? I have read online all day and cannot find any info on this issue at all. My plan was to install all new speakers and a Kenwood Excelon single DIN I've had for a bit. Between this beeping thing and the staggering amount of radio and wire harness variations I've seen, I've become kinda scared LOL! Also, the door chimes come from the dash and not through the speakers. It seems that 2002 was a strange year with changes occuring midway through. I've made a Youtube of this issue....I'll try to attach it here. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

I just now checked my 1999 Service Manual "Radio/Audio System Check" procedure and it has nothing about beeping from the radio.

This would be a pain to have to do, but if you could get another stock radio from a wrecking yard, you could swap it out and see if the issue is in the radio or not.

Good Luck

Thought about that, if I can figure out the theft lock code thing, but the ultimate goal is to replace it with a Kenwood single DIN I have and new speakers. I logged into the service manual at work this morning looking for wiring too....the rig has a mic hanging on the headliner. But, it's not factory. I have a feeling it might interface with some kind of bleep bloop box hooked into the radio harness. I haven't had time to trace it yet. The vehicle build sheet on the GM site lists it as a fleet vehicle. There is evidence of old antennas all around the thing, so some kind of interface seems plausible.

christine_208 I tore the dash apart today and I found a bunch of wiring/boxes. It's a Parrot Blue Box bluetooth phone interface. Removed it all, reconnected the radio, and no more beeping. Case closed!
