sub angles
 

im in the process of designing a sub box and i am thinking about getting 15s in stead of 12s but i would have to change the design a little. my original design was to have two 12s on the sides facing each other at 45 degree angles. with 15s i would either have to angle them more towards the roof at like a 60 degree angle or facing them more towards each other at around a 30 degree angle. What would be better to do? up or down? Or i thought about making them completely vertical facing each other but will that sound bad? I plan on getting alpine type Rs

Dont forget about proper airspace. a single type R 15" requires 2.5ft^3 sealed and 3ft^3 vented. Thats is a HUGE box per sub. Also, each type R will reguire ATLEAST 1000RMS to sound anywhere near good.

As far as the angles go, definitely stay away from firing them at each other. This causes cancellation. As long as the subs arent aimed at the exact same focal point, you should be ok. a 30 degree angle would be fine. 60 degrees might be best, but most likely unrealistic with 15"s.

wow i didnt even look at the box size for the 15s. guess i will stick with the 12s

box size aside i hope you have one hell of a charging system to run those 2 15s, even the 12's, your gonna need atleast 1800wrms on tap for them to perform. You will have massive problems trying to do that off a stock altenator.

keep in mind that hifonics dont put out the numbers they say they do. You get what you pay for.

you will probably be lucky to see a true 1200wrms out of that amp, and that's going to be at a perfect voltage of 14.4v. Real world I doubt you'd see more than 1000.

Nothing wrong with Hifonics. theywork very nicely, well the old ones do at least. i havent hooked up my titan yet to see how the new ones are yet.

If you dont want to spend a lot, you should stay away from type Rs. Type Rs are very power hungry, and real power is a bit pricey. There are plenty of other nice woofers out there that dont require so much power. They might not be as loud (depending on how you engineer the enclosure) but can still sound great.
