subwoofer box dimension ?s

i want to build my own dual 12 sub box and was wondering if anyone knew the best box building plans to use. i was looking for a good sealed box design. i dont want to use a pre fab box and wondered if i should use the same dimensions as those?

boxes are fairly cheap these days. are you trying to custom fit to your trunk area?

i have a 12 inch dual 4 ohm voice coil alpine type r and dont have the papers for it anymore. i will be getting another one exactly the same and havent ever built my own box. i thought a 1/2 inch plexiglass box would look sweet but i scratched that plan as soon as i called about the price. and yea i want to custom fit my truck with the 12s. i want to have one sub on each side and the amp in the middle. sorry if this is all confusing i just want it to be custom lol.

hey wow no one is giving you the answer you need, or can use. so check it out, for most 12's the volume in the box needs to be between 2 and 3 cubic feet. for my 12 i used the dimensions 20 1/4H x 14D x 14W turned out well and that was for a ported box. you have 2 12's you said so you need somewhere between 4 and 6 cubic feet, if i were you i would have a dual box with ports in the middle to seperate the subs. to figure out the volume in a box take the height, width, and depth, then divide by 1728. umm a descent sized box would be, 40W x 14H x 17D , or you can do 40W x 17H x 14D whatever works for you. that box would give 5.5 cubic feet, which is descent, cuz you have to take into consideration the volume the ports take up, and the subs. so those dimensions should be good.
