I guess we're assuming you are running 1800 at 1 ohm? 1800 is a bit much for the stock alternator.

Actually you are both wrong. Its called impedence, not ohm load.

I have the subs wired at 1 ohm and its not really 1800 watts, I kinda doubt it does rated power maybe more of 1500

--and bout the gain not being represenative of power consumption, guess youn learn something new every day!

same thing really. different impedence different power rating, different ohm load different rating. just a bigger word really lol. the point we were trying to get across is that gain doesn't determine the watts

Still seems to be a bit much. Time for an alternator upgrade.

what size wire, power and ground.

and where is it grounded.

I'm running 950rms.....and most of the time my dimming is pretty minimal, with 4 gauge and no big 3.

but then again this amp is pretty darn effecient.

I've got 4guage knu wire with the big three done in it and its grounded to the seat bolt on the right rear seat. the bolt labled "B" in the other ground thread

did you sand away all the paint where you grounded it at?

excellent choice on the wire. knu wire is great, especiialy at the price.
