What brand sub and amp Do you have in your blazer?

I have a 10 inch polk mono in a probox. I am using a 900 watt rockford fosgate to push it. I have amp turned all the way up. The sub is rated at 1050

Tip: drop your amp gain down. All you're doing is introducing clipping and distortion by cranking it to max. Even the highest end top dollar amps are not designed to be ran at max gain. If you're not getting the volume out of the amp you think you should be getting, you need a higher output amp, plain and simple. And if there's a "bass boost" setting on the amp, just leave it alone and at "0"... that setting is a joke and should just be called a "distortion boost"...

Personally, I've had several setups in my 04, but currently have settled on a pair of Rockford Fosgate P3's 12's being pushed by a itty bitty Pioneer Professional Series 800 watt on a 1 ohm load. Under powering the subs, but they perform pretty well in the enclosure they're currently in. The enclosure could be retuned a little to hit some lower frequencies a little better, but it's tuned for all around sound at the moment.

Soundstream PN5.640D 5-channel amp (4 x 60 into 4 ohms + 350 into 2 ohms both at reasonable THD - Class D amp). Bazooka BT1024DVC 10" passive sub (Bass Tube) with dual voice coil wired for 2 ohms (175W x 2 @ 4 ohms nominal, 400W x 2 @ 4 ohms max). 4 Focal RSE-165 6.5" component speakers, one in each door (120W max, 60W nominal). Front tweeters in dash. Rear tweeters eye level on door pillar. I believe speakers and amp match each other well. Goal is listening to progressive rock - balanced, full range sound - not just thumping heavy bass. But it can hurt you if the windows are up. I have yet to have taken it to full volume, but suspect I have been close. Too loud to listen to for any length of time :-). Bass tube sub doesn't take much room in the back. I'm happy with this system and have no regrets about any component.

The gain you use for your amp should be solely dependent on the output of your deck

This is true, but I've never seen one take a maxed out setting to be "properly tuned" lol

My comment was intended to be in support of your previous comment - I agree!

I have a pair of 10" Alpine type Rs with a smaller mono alpine amp running them.

Looking to update, though. Maybe a newer set of Alpines, or JBLs.....probably whatever I run across at a reasonable price. :icon_mrgreen:

I have 2 10” audiobahn aw1000q’s in a custom box designed and built by myself with the help of a good buddy, powered by a kicker dx1000.1 @4ohms. My buddy literally got these subs and a box for $35 on Craigslist. I actually have a 12” kicker L5 solobaric but it blew a voice coil from a ****ty dual DVD player that I bought, but that’s a whole different story. I have always been a deep bass dude and had a 15” kicker L7 forever. My buddy let me use these 10’s and they sounded pretty damn good in the potted box they were in. I have been making sub boxes for years and have always gone with the ported box similar to what Bose and kicker like to do with bending the port back and forth. I’ll have to tell you that if you go by manufacturers recommended max porter or slotted enclosure volume you will be satisfied. I am at just over 5 cubic feet for these 10’s which essentially is two individual boxes screwed. Set amp gain with meter before previously and wow these things bang so hard, I’m not sure what you all believe but I’ll tell you one thing it’s all about the box...Whenever I say I have 2 10’s nobody believes me. Set gain properly, build huge box, get good results
