Wiring a amp to the battery?

So I just got a 1996 GMC Jimmy 2 Door and was setting up my sub and am but ran into a problem while doing it. Compared to how my Honda wired up to my amp the bolt that connects to the batter doesn't fit through the connector at all like the original battery connector does. What should I do to solve this?

Pictures would be a huge help here;)

They make side post adapters, like the one pictured below, that are perfect for what you're trying to do. You should be able to find them at just about every auto parts store.

Looks like I am a little late to the party on this one. But they also make side posts like this that allow you to use a regular style battery post. This is what I use

The best way would be to convert to top post. The side post batteries strip out so easily.

Personally I prefer to get a dual post battery. Use the side posts for the factory wires and the top posts for the additional accessories. I didn't suggest it to the OP in the first place because I figured that getting a new battery probably wasn't in the plans, at least just yet.

Like I did here in my Jimmy.
