1984 Z28 build

Y'all know by now I bought me a 84 z28 for a new project. I've been looking for a 3rd gen camaro for awhile. They were either too much or too bad of shape. I will say that she looks like she's in bad shape but she really aint bad. no rust at all!

She came with a 400 small and turbo 400 trans. The motor has been bored out to a 406. comes with a Holley intake and carb, headers(not sure on the brand).

Now the bad. she has a wiring problem and no radiator.

I plan on taking the motor out and going through it. New gaskets, freeze plugs, seals, new cam and lifters maybe springs, and repaint the block.

If y'all have cam suggestions let me know.

Now pics!

Looking forward to seeing this come along! My future son in law just got the exact same car (same year and color) for his first car. Though his only has the 305 in it the car is in pretty fair shape as well.

Do you have a pic of it? I'm pretty sure all 84s had 305s. Someone swapped the 400 in it. Mines not staying black. I've been debating on silver or a darker red

I'm gonna try and get better pics of it this week also.

Yeah they did. The kid wants something bigger but he's got a lot of other work to do to the car before he starts worrying about that. It's amazing how poorly made the interior and trim was made on those cars. We're having "fun" looking at how much it's going to cost him to get it all replaced or redone.

Found out today the front bushings are all shot and the exhaust is a HORRIBLE hack job.... Ah, the joys of buying someone else's playtoy..... lol

Here's his car...

Yea the interior in these cars were made crappy. His car is in way better shape then mine

I thought it was funny they both seem to have the same Grant steering wheel, lol.

I sent him a link to your build log so he can watch as well. I can't wait to talk to him about it today. Good luck with the build, I'm looking forward to seeing it when it's all done!

Mines a little different but they are close. I hate the stock 3rd gen steering wheels.

The build is gonna be kinda slow for a while cause I'm saving up for parts.

Well after doin a bunch of research and talking to my bosses son I've decided to do a 5.3 swap. I bought a 5.3 off my buddy today for $500. It had 157,000 miles so a little high but nothing to worry about. I just ordered the intake today. I went with this intake Holley LS Mid-Rise Carbureted Intake Manifolds 300-130 - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing

Plans for the motor
Comp cams XR265HR cam
Roller rockers
Not such on carb
Msd street fire coils
Ported heads

Any suggestions on carb and valve springs
