1988 Blazer Firebird
Hi, my name is Stephen. I was hoping to get some help from this board and to continue to post as a member here on out.
I recently purchased what I was told was a 1988 Chevy S10 Blazer chassis with a 1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula body. By nature, I am a Firebird and I know my Firebird. I can clearly see that the entire fiber is sitting on the Chevy s10 chassis. I can see that it is the same Chevy 350 motor from the Firebird as well.
There is a modification of the oil filter that is remotely transfer to the top of the motor on a half-fast made piece of wood bracket mount. I am assuming that the oil filter original location of block is in the way of the four wheel drive transfer case? So my question is, if I would want to swap out this engine apples for apples, another 350 motor, which style 350 motor would I get that would have the oil filter location correct like the original blazer motor would have in this chassis?
Or am I looking at this too hard and maybe I should just keep the remotely placed oil filter and make a new nice bracket for it, and then just get any old 350 Firebird motor. I actually want to try to get a 350 motor that is stroked out to a 383.
The transmission also still appears to be the 700R OD from the Firebird. I guess those are the same transmisson used in the Blazer 4x4's also originally?
Any help or suggestions Pointers on what I have here and what I'm trying to accomplish would be greatly appreciated. I plan to redo the entire car and keep the progress on this site as I go along.

The og blazer motor had a remote oil filter. The front half shaft would not clear the OEM filter. There is a mod so you can put the filter on the block, it requires a shorter filter. Google "remote oil filter delete, s10 blazer" and you will find your answer.
Also, your photos are not working.

Redneck Engineering is awesome dude. I've seem some really Sweet 4x4 cars. Rode in a 4x4 Camaro that rode like a dream. I've seen 4x4 VWs, Rancheros, and even a 4x4 70's Thunderbird. (which is what I'd like to do to go with my '79 Ford Thunderbird camper A.K.A. my T-Camper)
