1989 Chevrolet Blazer

So I'm buying a 1989 K5 Blazer that some guy has had for awhile now, I sold my 89 S10 and I miss the thing so I've been looking for another one and I've always wanted a K5 and now it looks like I'm getting one.

The Blazer is kinda rigged and you can tell that the previous owners have tried to save it before but now I'm taking it off the guys hands before he takes it to the junkyard.

I looked at it the other day and its going to need new front fenders, a little bit of work around the doors, the doors themselves are alright, they have some rust under neath but so did my last Blazer so I'm not worried about that. There is a whole on the back of the body where the door shuts, but my friend has told me that he can fix it, hes really good at body work. The drivers side rear wheel well is alright and has been fixed, but the passenger side one is started to bubble up in a few spots, but again nothing bad. The worst rust on it I'd say is in the back where who ever had it welded on new steel for the tailgate. The tailgate itself has some rust in the middle at the bottom but again nothing bad. But right above the filler neck at the back of the wheel well there is a hole about four inches long and about two inches wide, but I'm convinced that even that isn't that bad. The tailgate was strong enough for me so sit on and bounce a little bit so I think that it will be alright once its properly fixed. I couldn't find any other holes in the floor or anywhere else and its been undercoated before but now its time for that again.

Overall the body is in pretty good shape.

The interior is going to need to be gutted out and redone, but I plan on just rhino lining it and forgetting carpet altogether. The dash is in great shape and the guages seem to be good. The body has 155K on it, but it has a new crate engine 350 in it with about 28K on it so its good to go in that sense.

Its a Silverado trim and I'm sure that its supposed to have captains chairs and a center console, but the guy says he has a front bench for it so whatever.

To get it back on the road its going to need new fuel and brake lines, tires, and a front bumper since its missing.

All in all I think its a pretty good buy considering the guy only wants $800 for it, and it had a low mileage replacement engine in it. Its definitely a project, but I think for just a little bit it can be back on the road and be a bad ass Blazer again.

I will upload pics of it soon, but what do you guys think about it?

I'm looking up some of the RPO codes for the Blazer now, this thing has all the heavy duty provisions, heavy duty front suspension, heavy duty brakes, heavy duty cooling system, oil cooling, this thing even has the dual front shocks on it so its going to be a trail machine thats for sure
