Wow, I haven't updated this junk in a while. So last week we had some sub zero temperatures for a few days. Thursday I went to get in the blazer and the doors were frozen shut, but I got the driver's door open. However, when I shut it the latch was back in the closed position and it wouldn't close. Well, this happened.

The striker is pushed back much further than it looks.

I figured while I was at it I would do the hinge pins also. I had my dad help me and just took the door off.

It took forever to drive that bottom pin out. The one upper hole was a bit ovaled out so I filled it with JB Weld and let that dry while I worked on the latch debacle.

Here is a better view of the damaged door frame

Excuse the horrible booger welds. I plan on plating over this eventually but it was getting late and I wanted to get done.

For now I just covered it with some black hammer finish and called it a day.

I wasn't able to get the door spring back in. I need to find the tool, but so far nobody has had one locally. The good news is that the door closes now and the hing works so smoothly. It doesn't sag and creak anymore.

My door did the same thing. Pain in the #$%. I bought my spring tool off Amazon. I tried the zip tie method and about lost an eye.

I got mine off Amazon for about 20$... used it about 5 times lol... I suggest it, especially the way the blazer door pins are... saves lots of time...

I just grabbed the tool from the Advance near my office for $14. It has a lifetime guarantee so I figured it is worth a shot. When I had my passenger side door pins put on at a shop they said they couldn't install the spring. I am not sure why. So I will try doing both front doors.

When compraissing the spring, stay as close to the outside of the spring as possible, and make sure it's as far into the spring as possible, I've had a couple of close calls lol...

Thanks, I just shot some hammer finish on it to keep it from rusting.

The tool worked just fine to get the spring in.
