I love 1st gen Durangos, but hate the x.7 engines. Those japs and germans ruined 50 years of Mopar reliability and reputation with their crappy engineering. The LA series engine (3.9/5.2/5.9) were damn near indestructible.

Before I bought my Blazer, I looked high and low for a Durango 2wd. They are such good vehicles, nobody wants to sell them unless they are worn completely out or wrecked!

So I am in for trouble in the future with the 4.7L motor? Got to see my old Blazer today. Found out that the guy that bought it is a friend of a guy that work at where I work. It coming along and put lot of money into it already.

Tonight after work I went to store and bought 2 front seat covers, steering wheel cover, and 2 back floor mats. I have to get 2 front floor mats yet. Here are the pictures of it. I am thinking about the ideas but don't know what to do.

The 4.7, like all the .7 motors, has a very easily restricted oil pickup and other oiling problems. You may want to google it and check out the Dakota/Durango forums. If you call any junkyard yard, they will tell you the .7 motors (all of them) give trouble. Same for Nissan 2.5s motor, total piece of junk that's guaranteed to blow up. Good luck!

i think ive replaced those motors more then any motor at work. a big issue with these trucks i see is just plain rot. the freeze plugs rust out of them and the best part is they put those little metal sleeves around the spark plugs then when the heads rust they smash the sleeve onto the spark plug. i have a ground down spark plug socket just for dodges for that reason.

trying not to make you paranoid or anything just giving some of my experiences with them.
