I recall reading this a while back. Been discussed a number of times.
https://blazerforum.com/forum/showth...o+manual+trans Hope it helps - Amazing what you can find with the "search" function above. |
good luck on finding a donor truck, i've been looking for one for about a year now-and that's just for the pedals! (i still have one of my 4WD 5spds from my other truck).
otherwise, it would already be in my build thread. |

Ummmm, the 700R4/4L60/4L60E tranny is in EVERY rear wheel drive GM vehicle since the early '80's and it is revered as the BEST auto tranny ever built. With that said, nothing compares to a manual tranny. As for your question, depends on what you mean by little problems. Yours being a '98 means it's computer controlled, so you have to deal with the puter and reprogramming it. You wil also have to remove the wiring harness, and rewire the VSS. Not too mention the manual tranny and auto tranny are different lenghts, swap driveshafts, tranny cross brace location. Yes you will need the peddles as well as the hydrolics for the manual tranny. That is assuming you can find a manual that will bolt up to your V6 and to your t-case and the other parts to make it all work. |
