88 s15 built from 94 jimmy parts
I have a 94 Jimmy 4.3 CPI and an 88 S15 TBI I want to swap the CPI motor into the 88 I know I to swap the harness with it will it just plug in and do I need swap the ECM thanks also is there any other problems I will run into during this swap
No, it won't just plug in. My advice, if you have to ask why - then don't attempt it. I'm not trying to be an *** but the two systems are so completely different I would not know where to start explaining...…..This has potential to be a project that will never be finished and will end up at the junkyard. Much better to find the correct TBI motor. Sorry

Hello everyone I have a 1988 S15 pickup and a 1994 Jimmy Jimmy has only 60,000 miles on engine and trans S15 pickup has over 300,000 in still running I will be swapping parts from the Jimmy to the pickup including engine rims rear end seats seat belts 1 bumper center console front grill tail lights and spare tire. Also painting cab and frame on the pickup. Looking for info on swapping in the CPI motor to the pickup wondering what kind of problems I will see with swapping the engine harness and any wiring and ECM thanks in advance
I own, built and drive a MORF { look at my avatar } swapping out the parts is easy. Major attention will have to be paid when you get to the wiring stage. Almost all the 94 harness will need to be swapped in.Tag, label and figure out what is actually needed. Its not a job for the novice but with time and patience you can figure it out and do it.....
I've been looking at the wiring in both trucks does look like a job any links I can get regarding this job would be greatly appreciated I know someone has put info on this I just can't find it yet
Your building a MORF so I will almost bet your only going to find wiring diagrams for the stock units.
The wiring in my RX7 body needed to be totally stripped out and the 92 Jimmy harness transplanted in. It will involve labeling, extending and shorting wires. Along with a ton of soldered and heat shrink joints,
DO NOT cheap out and use the crimp joint attachments, they may look good but don't hold up well even on speaker wires .....

The investment would be about 150$ for the full set of factory service and electrical/diagnostic manuals per truck.
The 94's manuals are available (rockauto).
With the correct wiring diagrams it could work with lots of patience and planning.
It will also come down to your instrument cluster.
At least the full engine wiring and ECM would have to be swapped along with several inputs to the existing instrument cluster.
Also the 94 engine harness will need several inputs from your old truck (VSS, gear position, brake position)
Doable but I think definitively not for the faint of heart. And - IMHO spending the 300 bucks on the manuals will pay off big dividend during the swap.
Many such builds have ended up being for race or off street use and use carbs instead of the fuel injection.
