95 S10 Blazer build

This is my second blazer build. . The first one didn't work out so great. I did a lot of work on it and really enjoyed driving it, but upon inspection from the frame shop it was found to have a busted frame..so bad that they recommended not to fix it. So I didn't want anyone else to have it in that condition I took everything I could off it and scraped it..I recently found another 95 2 door flor sale so I bought I it, but it haks some issues also. I put those issues in the tech section so I won't go into them here. Anyway the main thinga I want to do is mainly cosematic..roof rack, front bumper guard, paint, wheels and tires. As soon as I upload pics to my tablet I will post them.

Before I post pics I want to give a history of this blazer. It hasn't ran since 2009. The guy I bought it from said he got it from a couple that used it on a paper route and they said it overheated and it hasn't ran right since. I did a compression check on the cylinders and the compression was good on all cylinders. My thought on the overheating issue is one of a few things..lean condition on injectors, O2 sensor. I plans are to change the intake manifold gasket(might as well I'm changing the injectors), change the O2 sensor, and exhaust gaskets. The truck runs but is sluggish and smokes and smells of gasoline. Hopefully this fixes the driveability issues. Pics to come very soon.

could be more rust when you take the running boards off

RMBlazernut 01-25-2014 05:47 PM

I've already had them off to check. Really solid under them which I'm surprised that there wasn't any rust under them

:P

good idea on the running boards i personally dont like them there are the standard nerf bars for the 2 door s10 but i found some off a s10 pickup extended cab (with the third door ) and put them on mine had to make brackets for the back but they fit great i have a pic of them in my photos on here ill get some more this weekend and post them in there of how we mounted them if your interested if not go with the ones made for the 2 door ... :P your choice

RMBlazernut 04-10-2014 06:09 AM

Well I found my fuel problem..took the top plenium off..there was 1/4 inch of gas sittingin there..new stuff going in this weekend.tonight removing all bad stuff.

RMBlazernut 04-14-2014 04:30 PM

All fuel issues fixed..new fuel pump, new CPI unit and hoses, new plenum gasket, and as im sure it was running very rich, I replaced the o2 sensor. It runs much better, but I still have some issues. On cold start up I have smoke out the exhaust. After 2 minutes smoke is gone. Fuel pressure at the tank is 91 psi and on snap throttle at the test port is 62 psi. I am leaning toward the ignition system now..my question is I can get my hands on a msd ignition system really cheap. Will this blazer handle it or can it even be done.
Thanks for your help in advance

There is a photobucket app, that is how I do it.

RMBlazernut 06-27-2014 04:45 AM

Ok got the app re installed..I will try when I get home from work today

RMBlazernut 06-27-2014 07:45 PM

Ok going to see if I can upload some pics by phone..well I guess im not smart enough..ok.well I found a major problem..I was doing intake gasket and decided with the mileage on the truck I would go ahead and do the head gaskets..found # 5 cyclinder with antifreeze in it and alot of it..that explains my white smoke..and yes head gaaket was torn in that area..I will find my sd card for my camera and retake the pics tomorrow.. also got the running boards off and to my surprise no rust.

What would cause the intake port on cycl. #4 to be completely plugged up with carbon

RMBlazernut 06-30-2014 07:49 AM

nevermind I found the issue...NEGLECT on previous owner.

RMBlazernut 08-23-2014 10:18 AM

IM done messing around with this motor..putting in a new one the weekend of September 5. found busted head gaskets, took the heads to machine shop, they told me both heads are cracked, so who knows whats going on with the block. I want this blazer running so new engine it is..It has 140,000 miles on it and i seen it run. It runs great, no smoke issues anywhere. I will try and get pics up later today. when the motor is installed i will start the cosmetic work on the truck. That when most pics will come up.

Rick

RMBlazernut 08-24-2014 06:42 AM

Plans for the day.. drain oil and start getting this old motor out.. should be pretty simple simce its down to the block already, everything has been disconnected, so torque converter bolts, tranny bolts, and motor mount bolts and its should come out.

Haven't gotten much done due to health issues, but doc says I'm back in the saddle again so I'm going to start working on it again and will post some pics of it tonight., especially the interior rodents seem to like it as a home during the winter seeing it sat all winter. I'm pretty good with motors..interior not so much
