97 2 Door 5 speed 4X4
Hey all, just thought Id start a thread for my (ever) on going build. I have a 97 S10 Blazer LS, 2 Door, 5 speed, 4X4. I picked it up several months ago for a good deal with a knocking motor. I live in New York, drove to PA to get it, and it was originally out of Maryland. So for a Blazer in NY, its pretty damn clean. I started by throwing a low miles motor in it (74,xxx when installed, 144,850 ish on the truck) and the build has gone from there. I've done some to it, but just decided to make an account here. Ill continue to post as I do more to it, which I have plenty planned. Here's some pictures of when I first got it.

Heres some pictures of the teardown and swap. Some done at home, some done at the shop where my Dad works. I also did a little cleanup and paint on the engine bay while the motor was out.

I switched from the ugly fisheye style lights and grill to sealed beams when I put it back together, since it needed a new core support anyway, and so I could run some 4x6 LED headlights. And it looks a lot better IMO. These things are impressively brighter then stock. Especially for the price.

Next came new wheels and tires. I got a smokin deal on these Goodyear Wrangler Authority AT 31s from Walmart, and found some Camaro wheels on good ol craigslist. I gave the wheels the rattlecan treatment (they needed it) and they came out pretty good. The tires are awesome. They look very aggressive for ATs and the noise they make is fantastic . I plan on finding another wheel for the spare, and getting some center caps and new chrome lug nuts for it.

This is how she sits today. I have plenty of future plans, but so far I love this thing. I've always wanted a nice 2 door 5 speed, and finding one this clean in the rust belt isn't easy. Eventually I want to have it on 33s, and the build will never be over (maybe SAS one day?) but for now, Its the nicest project I've ever had, and I'm loving the way she looks I'll continue to post here as I do more!

Haven't posted an update here in quite a while, since there's really been nothing new All I've really done is some LED markers, and replaced the turn signals in the bumper with LED fogs. They look great, but I've quickly found that the blinkers in my corner lenses alone are not enough for oncoming traffic to see during the day So the fogs are soon to be replaced with switchback bulbs in the stock housings I think. Other than throwing my cheap beater 12" sub in the back, that's about it. Between winter coming and some other things, I haven't been able to do much. But with any luck, this summer will be time for some changes and new goodies

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, as you can see in the latest pictures, I also replaced the mirrors with 99+ style from a bravada, since my stock ones were broken and super glued back on (gotta love dumb previous owners) and the newer gen just look so much better. I also replaced the busted up cowl piece, repainted the wiper arms, etc. Just little details here and there to make it a little nicer overall. Also will be finishing painting the frame and underside come spring.

Nice job so far! I really like those tires, I want something like that for mine.
