98 Blazer Sheila

I've been lurking for a while, but here's what I have done to my truck or as I know her, Sheila. She got her name from the Tank in Red vs Blue, it started out as a joke from some of my friends but it stuck haha

This is when I first picked her up in Sept of 2012, I paid $2600 and it came with a set of snow tires and a plow.

Blazers apparently have a place with my family, as we originally had a 91 Jimmy 4x4 and this is what it has grown too.

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

A red 98 blazer, which is my dads, a white 01 Jimmy which is my moms, a blue 00 Blazer which is my younger brothers car, and the green 98 Blazer on the far right is mine haha

I did do a 2" shackle lift and a 1.5" torsion bar crank, but seem to have misplaced the pictures somewhere. But I eventually scored a beat up brush guard and nurf bars. Unfortunately the nurf bars were for the two door and not the four door, so I ended up just giving them my buddy for his high rider.

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

Shortly after that, I got the roof rack, which I bought the extension for and also some lights to mount on the rack as well! When it finally warms up, I'll be running the lights through the roof instead of through the door and using a relay set up that I have found on the forum.

Then winter came

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

and I played around a little bit with all the snow

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

I got tired of the brush guard and not having front hooks to pull my buddy's Toyota Pickup out of giant snow banks he attempts to go through, so I did some front D-Rings (I got the idea from Rexmburns build thread)

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

the brush guard I gave to my little brother, who has the blazer at the end of the driveway

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

I eventually went to the junkyard even though it was 0* out to try and find some ZR2 flares and a rear tire carrier. The Flares were a total bust, but I found the tire carrier and this little jewel.

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

and everything got crammed in the back of the truck

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

After paint I got it on the truck, nice 2" cowl hood

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1395161026

and that's where she sits right now, but I'm hopefully picking up some ZR2 fender flares and aluminum skid plates in the next day or so. So that will be the next project

Nice start so far.

rexmburns 03-18-2014 01:05 PM

Looks really good! Nice score on the cowl hood to.

It was a total steal on the hood, a guy around here wanted $400 for one and I scored this one for $100!

But last night, I drove up to Iron Ridge, WI and picked up a 95 ZR2 rust bucket.

The fender flares are hardly on anymore, but plans are to put the flares and skid plates onto the Blazer and possibly the visor depending on how I like the look. Its got the the 3.73's and I've got the 3.42 gearing. Which I would like to put on my truck, but is it possible to directly swap the rear end and front diff/trans over onto my Blazer so that I've got 3.73 gears? Since its a 95 and I've got a 98 (they're both the three button so NP233 case I think)

rexmburns 03-19-2014 09:58 PM

Everything should swap over without to much hassle. The rear axle will be a bit wider. You don't have to swap the trans and transfer case for the front just the diff which will swap over. The only advantage of swapping the tcase would be if the Z had a 231 manual shift.

So I had that ZR2 S10 which I nabbed the under body guards, the flares, and the roof visors from! So the easiest things to put on were the under body panels!

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416280965

Shortly thereafter my buddy and I went and picked up a ZR2 S10

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416280965

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416280965

So I saw some HIDs for sale from warthogdriver and picked them up. They were super easy to install and I love the way the look! Eventually I want to mod some lights for projectors like diatas thread.

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416280965

The dogs were not happy that I spent time away from them hahaha
https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416280965

But I also ended up doing the LED mod for the cluster and some other parts as well! Turned out great, just need a few LED's to solder into the troublesome lights.

I did end up getting tired of trying to backup in the dark, the privacy glass is amazing but sucks for backing up, so I wired up some back up lights, which work amazing.

I did also end up picking up some rims for dirt cheap, $2.50 a piece! I plan on painting them black and putting them on with some adapter plates to space out the axles till I get a ZR2 axle in there.

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416281757

So I did have the ZR2 S10 flares sitting around for a good winter now. I worked on doing the front flares first, which were a big pain!https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416281757

But they look great from the front!

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416281757

I did the rears last, they were a little easier than the front in my opinion but still required lots and lots of trimming. I pretty much followed warthogdrivers thread on the flares to do these which was really straight forward.

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416281757

After all the work though she looks great!

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416281757

Got a new front bar for her, which doesn't look too bad

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416281757

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416281757

Unfortunately one of the blazers in my family had an unfortunate incident while being parked in the front of the house. My younger brothers truck was rear ended while parked on the side of the street...by none other than a 2nd Gen jimmy...go figure..
https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416281757

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1416281757

Although the truck was completely totaled, my I ended up finding another blazer for my brother and he ended up picking up an emerald green blazer exact same color and year as mine! He eventually wants to put the work in to make his look less stock and more off road like lol.

What kinda town do you live in with that many blazers, all they got around here is porsches and lotuses. They ought at least give a discount for two dozen plugs and a drum of oil at the auto parts store!

Night_Wolf 11-18-2014 09:45 AM

Hahaha I live in Kenosha, Wi. I have one more younger brother with no car still and I jokingly told him he might as well pick up a green blazer too lol
