Blazer frame switch
 

I was recently given a 1999 LS Chevy Blazer with only 51,000 miles on it. Its in excellent condition except for the frame and most on the underbody. My grandmother gave it to me when she moved from New York and the road salt had demolished the frame. How would I swap the frame and would a Chevy S10 truck frame work. Thanks

Short answer - NO.

The only thing that would swap would be a frame from another 2nd gen Blazer and it would need to be the same configuration as yours (# of doors and 2WD vs 4WD) I'm not aware of any frame difference between the years (95 through 05) but if there are, that could really limit the number of donor vehicles you could use.

I can't imagine this being a simple swap. In fact, I'm not sure that 'extraordinarily complex' would accurately describe it.

However, if you've got the time and ability to do it, I'm sure its possible

how bad can the frame be for it to be swapped out?

I cant see the frame being that bad on a 99. Im from MI and deal with all the salt crap and the frame on my 99 is fine. It had surface rust but that can be cleaned up and painted.

x2 i live in northeast ohio , in the western end of the snow belt and they load our roads up with salt and my frame i still solid it has it surface rust but thats it

maybe it would be easier to find a mint body/frame with a blown engine, and transfer the drivetrain components, since the only have 51,000???? thats what I would do...waaaaayyy easier, less time consuming then a body/frame swap IMHO

x3 on the road salt. I live in Nova Scotia (further East then the East coast of the US) and I couldn't see it rusting that bad that you would have to replace it...but who knows. Anything is possible. You got any pics of it?

x4 unless it was really neglected. I cant see needing a new frame.
