Clean slate

As stated in my intro earlier today, i have lost a previous blazer to a wreck, and i am looking to build again. I would like to hear some input based off of anyone's experiences with products be it good or bad. I'd like to build a 1999 2 door z85 (i found one on the cheap) in the next month or so. I really like the "blacked out" build Zasder did back in 2007.
Any recommendations or experiences for the following products would be a great help.

Brush guards (not push bars or grille guards) that will work with a 2 inch lift.
HID conversions
31" tire selections for light off roading, keeping in mind it's a daily driver.
2" suspension lifts
Shock absorbers and new suspension bushings (Polyurethane type)
Winch set ups
On board 12V air compressors

Anything that should be looked for before i start building, parts that are prone to fail. Kind of a what would you have done better if you had to do it again question i guess. I am having the paint done this week. I have 2 other cars at my disposal so i can afford to tear it down for a while. I'll post pics as i go along starting with the new paint. Thanks guys!
