just wondering if any one on here has attempted to make one yourself and if you have can you help me out? i want to but i dont know where to start

My plan is to take a 3/16 or 1/4 in C channel, notch a couple triangles out in the middle to keep the top with the bottom of the grill, then takin the ends and cuttin two more triangles out to turn the ends in at about a 80-90 degree angle to cover the corners of the front tires. Ill take pics as i go, and ill try to get a pic of my idea on here

I made one for mine. I would recommend making one out of cardboard first. That way you can get an idea of what it will look like and then use those measurements to cut the steel. Also if you dont have a plasma cutter i wouldnt recommend making on with a lot of cuts and angles like the ones shown above. Its a lot of work.

thanks for the input, i just wish componies would make **** like this for blazers not just trucks.
yea i know it would be alot of work but all i got is time, since winter is coming ill make a cardboard model of what i want and then slowly build it in the winter.
but since im gonna add a hidden winch shouldnt i bolt that onto a steel plate and weld that plate in between the frame rails just after the plates that bolt on the bumper?

for my winch i welded up a plate out of 1.4in steel. It sits on top of the frame and its bolted in between the frame rails. Then i bolted my bumper on using some of the same bolts for the winch plate.

ah,
do you have any pics of it by chance? im pretty interested in what it looks like :D haha

These are actually made by a company. Frontier, KC, and Ranch Hand make them. Ranch Hand has some for the Blazer but not like the ones pictured above.

yea, i dont want the normal looking brush guard and what not. i like the tuff look these have, plus i think these would hold up better in a crash haha

NVANZEE 09-13-2011 08:05 PM

i dont have any pics right now. I can get some in a month or so when i start my v8 swap. For mine i did have to cut off the stock bumper mounts, extend the frame, and get rid of my airbag sensors

EricR 09-13-2011 08:06 PM

Damn right it would stand up haha. That's the only problem I see. You would lose all those sensors and measuring it would be more time and math than I would want to do. You might be able to find blueprints somewhere though.
