Engine swap from v6 to v8
 

Im swapping motors in my zr2 blazer from a 4.3 v6 to a 350 v8 and i want to switch it to make it carburated and i need to know all the parts and things i would need to do this....and i need to know what i would have to do about the fuel pump so if use could help me it would be greatly appreciated thanks

Why would you want to go to a carb? That is a step backwards IMHO.

There will be a lot of unhappy systems in your truck. Many things are tied together and would require some major rewiring and reworking of things like gauges, lighting, etc to get it to work properly.

Is it a manual or automatic?

Ditto what Swartlkk stated, the biggest problem I could think of is that the Tranny on your's is electronic and requires feedback from the engine sensors to function at all.

So you would probably need in addition to the 350 motor, a motor mount kitfor this conversion, a set of headers for this conversion, an aftermarket hood (cowl induction hood comes to mind)for additional clearence, a fuel cell/tank for the rear, electric fuel pump for the carb, and a manual tranny or older style valve body(non Electronic) tranny, and the shifter to mate to that.


Done right, I would expect to spend around $7000~$8000 on a project like this... and a LOT of time!

Obviously, nothing can prepare you for the unforseen, and something always shows it's ugly head on a project like this so, good luck!

where in the H did you get such a big number on the engine swap.. I'm going to do a engine swap, but I'm going to be using a 4.8 or 5.3.. possibly a LS1.. I have some LS1 heads off a vette, may just put those on the Iron block 4.8 or 5.3. Anyhow I can get these complete with computers the truck motors cost me up to 500 dollars, the ls1 will cost 1000. If I'm going to get V-8 gas milage I want the power. Our tranys will take the power and I'm putting a shift kit in it also. With the truck intake systems you need a cowl hood, Or bodylift...I may get the body lift, Keep my ride as sleeper as possible, but the LS1 or car intakes are lower and will require neither.

You should get the V8 engine swap manual from JTR. (Jags that run) The manual covers all your questions including about putting in a V8 into an S10.
