Friar Truck

I just picked up a 1999 S10 pickup for $600. It runs but needs some TLC. The guy who sold it to me is going to come back up next week and install a starter, brake lines, and fix a tire alignment issue. I gave him some Camaro rims and he took the price down so I'm keeping the rims until he fixes the issues.

It's a barebones truck, but like I said it runs so I'm not complaining. I needed wheels and am thankful I am able to stay in the S10 family.

Of course, I got busy right away.

I'm working on almost no budget, so I expect updates to be really slow. I have some cash coming to me soon that'll get me some spray paint.

Painting all the bumpers white (he started the primer and did a really messy job, but it gives me a place to start) and the wheels hot pink.

That's all I have so far. Hopefully I'll get some updates soon!

sweet.

Does it have the 4.3 or the 2.2?

hopefully the 4.3...i have never hated an engine as much as i hate the 2.2.

It's a 2.2, ahaha. I prefer the extra MPG's I get with the smaller engine though.

I also spent about an hour cleaning up the interior after posting that, got some more to do but I need to drag the vacuum out. I also cleaned out the bed which was filled with dirt and leaves. I was going to install some tow hooks but left all the hardware for them in my old Blazer which got towed away Monday (oops...)

I also cleaned up all the lights from spray paint over-spray using a scrub pad and vegetable oil. I have my mom to thank for that suggestion!

i personally dont like working on them (2.2) but they do get good mileage. i just have big hands i guess. anyway, i would have never thought about using vegetable oil for the primer...good idea. i will have to write that down. keep the pics and "upgrades" coming!

I don't work on engines at all, so it doesn't bother me, haha!

I wouldn't mind getting a 4 cyl s-10 pick up as a DD. But then again I drive 3.5 miles to work.

CraigSnedeker 07-01-2013 10:20 AM

3.5 miles isn't to bad, haha.

I picked up some white spray paint (no pink... *cries*) and some fabric adhesive today but can't do any work because of this dumb weather.

This is the look I am going for, except a long bed obviously.
