Mike's Green Bean

Couldn't think of anything else to call it LOL. So This will be my build/maintenance thread.

A little backstory. Truck was purchased brand new by my stepdad, he owned it till 2 months ago when it threw a P1870 and he decided rather than fix it he wanted a brand new vehicle. So i said i'd take it...he said sure and there we have it. He gifted it to me so i didn't have to pay tax on book value and she was mine...stranded in Richmond, VA but mine nonetheless. It also had a radiator leak so it sat for a month before i could get it. Went down and replaced the radiator and drove her home.

What i've done so far,
Radiator
Rebuilt valve body with Transgo shift improver
1-2 and 2-3 trans solenoids replaced
LIM gaket
Catalytic convertor and cat back exhaust (using stock exhaust tip)
short ram intake
Pioneer MVH-P7300 head unit
Pioneer door speakers

What's upcoming
Torsion bar crank to level the front (possibly this weekend)
after the winter some goodyear wrangler duratracs (235/75/15)
and i have some decal plans.

I'd like to get a few more MPG's out of her, but if i can't manage that then i may go the other direction and build a mud/offroad/street truck. Not sure yet. This will be a slow progression but it is what it is, money is tight and i have no definite plans so far.

Here's the pics I have of her so far.

Edit: crap i did it again, I swear i'm such an idiot sometimes. Meant to post this in the builds forum. Sorry guys. I'll wait for a moderator to move this instead of creating a second thread and clogging the forum with my nonsense lol.

Got bored today so i did a few things...

Topped off the rear diff.
Changed the transfer case fluid (which has never been done before)
Cranked the T bars 6 turns to level it up (was an inch and a half lower in the front)
Replaced the seat adjuster with one from a junkyard (it's not the right color but i don't care.)
Also did the throttle body butterfly mod, and while i had it off i polished the inside with a dremel and some compound.

Sittin all nice and level now :)

And the SRI. I know I know it needs a heat shield, When i have the money i'll be picking up some sheet steel/aluminum and encapsulating it. I'll seal it to the hood and seal all the way around it, then run some 4" tubing down behind the front bumper to pick up fresh air from the tow hook hole.

Ok a few ideas/plans i've come up with as to where i'd like to go with this thing.

Full brush guard (anyone know where to get one fairly cheap? I've searched around ebay and haven't found much)
2door spare tire rack (found one at the junkyard but didn't have the HUGE freakin torx bit with me so hopefully it's still there next time i go)
Brush guards for the taillights (do they even make em for the 2nd gen blazers?)
Roof basket (anyone make these? or do i need to custom fabricate?)

Also now that i have the tbar's cranked and the truck is leveled front to rear can i fit 31" tires without rubbing? or do i need to stick with 235 / 30" tires?

Anyone have any dealings with this seller/brand of brush guard? Just lookin for opinions on quality and whatnot. Price seems pretty damn cheap, but if it's not terrible quality (finish quality isnt a big deal i can always sand/repaint later) I might pick it up.

thats a nice brush guard and for the 31 inch tires a 1.5 inch tbar crank 2inch shackle would clear them

you might have rubbing if your tbars are sagging nothing minor trimming cant fix

Man that thing is clean. I like that head unit. What brand is it? Ive been looking to replace the crappy sony one that came with the truck. And check out benidects blazer build thread he bought a roof rack for his truck. There should be some info on that there.

Carrico4 Sep 30, 2011 09:54 PM

Benidects blazer had a Rage black widow on his, i have the same brand but its call a sting ray *i took off the factory crossbars however so it would sit level* and i believe they do make taillight guards as well, or you can make they, shouldn't be hard just get a spare taillight and make a blueprint around that. The brush guard is a good brand, idk much other than that, first one like that i have seen. 31s could fit, but i don't think so, i have 4" of lift and rub on fast turns at full lock.

Nice clean rig you've got there!

Tangvik1 Oct 1, 2011 05:00 AM

Cool truck, and seems like you got the right plans for it! Looking forward to see how it turns out!

Mike98Blazer Oct 1, 2011 08:21 AM

Thanks everyone. I'll look into the Rage roof racks. I think I'm going to pick up that brush guard when i have a chance (After putting the rear tire carrier on it will help to even out the look i think) and the tire rack itself.

The Head Unit is a Pioneer MVH-P7300 I'll get some more pics of it. It doesn't do CD's at all (unless you get a remote changer) It has Ipod/Iphone compatibility via the USB, it also has an SD card slot. It can control the Iphone library entirely from the HU so you aren't dickin around with your phone while driving. it also allows you to control Pandora radio via the usb on your Iphone as well. It is XM and sirius ready, HD radio ready, does video as well (although it doens't have a video output built in so you're stuck with the screen on it.) I'll go out and take a few more pics of it. Maybe a video showing what it can do.

Edit: Here's a pic and a quick video of it in operation.
