Motor swap advice

Ok so I am getting ready to start a build and I have a few options. First the scenario...

98 blazer lt 4x4

I blew the motor according to my mechanic and I am in the market for a motor swap. It would be crazy to think that I would WANT to put the 4.3l back in without atleast attempting at a v8 conversion

I dont mind losing my 4x4 I never use it. A buddy of mine has a LT1 with a trans for me..would this work or would I have to do more work than its worth.

my other option would be a LS1 either way with a 3k budget how would you guys approach this?:icon_bike:

In the past i was looking at doing the same thing, my cousin's cousin, had a 88 blazer and he put a LS1 in it along with a super charger and what not hes running 11's at the track in it.

My advice or at least the way i was going to go about mine before i decided to rebuild my 4.3, was into a 350, there cheap and easy to come by, your 4.3 is basically a little brother to a 350 so if your tranny is still in good condition you can do a direct bolt on. aftermarket parts on a 350 are relatively cheap and there is allot of option's, Now whether you want to find a old 350 or buy a crate you can find them easily in the 3000$ range with out install. Either way you swing it i want to see photos when its done!
