Blazer Forum - Chevy Blazer Forums - My 86 K5 Build...suggestions welcome!

I just picked this up a few weeks ago which is about 90% done:

86 K5 Blazer, started out with a 305...now has a 350 crate motor with an Edelbrock 700cfm manual choke
Edelbrock intake, and a mild cam.
Headman long tube headers with a custom (built by me) exhaust
NP 208
standard 10 bolt diff's
custom rear driveshaft lengthened and CV joint
6" suspension lift and 3" body (might be taking the body lift off)
20" wheels with 355 Nittos (don't know the name of the wheels)

overall this truck drives nice and smooth. It drives straight with very little play. I do intend on getting a dual steering stabilizer though. It starts somewhat easy with it being a manual choke, in cold weather. It has a good amount of power and sounds incredible! Everything but two gauges work, which I'm working on next. I bought a gauge cluster with tach off Ebay that I'll be putting in. I might have to get new gauges for the temp and volt, but it may just be the sensors?

My plans are to drive it this winter and keep it reliable. It's not going to see mud or anything. Cleaning this thing would be hell! The underneath is almost flawless! Everything has been undercoated and there is NO rust. The panels are all new with the exception of the passenger rocker. It had two long rust holes. I'm cutting that out in spring, but for now fiberglass and bondo works just fine.

I would like to run a dual battery setup and possibly a heater for the block or radiator. I think it needs a new heater core but will flush it out first. The motor runs like it's supposed to, but no heat at all. The gauge also only reads 100deg while running and goes up to 150deg max when you turn it off. I already switched out t stats and flushed the radiator and block. So maybe the heater core is clogged up?

Anyway, there's a lot more...but for now this is where I'm at. It's a LOT of fun to drive! Here she is. I named her Betty haha.
