my small project

This will be a quick run through of the stuff I have done to the Blazer since 2005. There is nothing major, just small little changes that rarely get noticed :D

The Blazer when I first saw it:

Ohhh the Stockness:

http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0045.sized.jpg

First thing I did was clear bumper and corner lenses and K&N Filter
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0114.sized.jpg

Then a headlight conversion (w/ "city lights") and silver stars for the head and fog lights
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0304.sized.jpg
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0187.sized.jpg

Next was the black/red bowtie
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0400.sized.jpg

Tinted the Windows...believe it was 13% all around over factory
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0207.sized.jpg

Then decided to add some more lights for backing up (needed after tint)
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0235.sized.jpg
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0237.sized.jpg
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0240.sized.jpg

Then added a back up camera...cool thing is that it picks up wireless signals
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0791.sized.jpg
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0766.sized.jpg

Then put an led light bar into the rear impact strip I got from the junkyard
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...ar_1.sized.jpg
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu..._001.sized.jpg

Then painted the chrome fender trim black (notice the gray door handles)
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...im_7.sized.jpg

Then painted the door handles and locks
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...08_1.sized.jpg

Next it was time for me to tint the taillights (please excuse the dirty 2wd Blazer, it is clean now just haven't had the chance to take more pictures)

VERY nice work! Clean truck!

Need to get that bumper trim back on or those holes filed in though.:icon_couchhide:

jlcolvin 10-07-2009 10:44 AM

yeah I'm searching for the one that fits my truck but just don't really want to pay the $80 that I find it for. Haven't found too many junkyards around here either which also hurts the cause :D

wlorton 10-07-2009 12:11 PM

Wow... beautiful... I love the gauges like that too... I think the Camaro berlinettas had something kinda similar

Sisk 10-07-2009 01:59 PM

WOW...this truck is in amazing condition!! The interior is mint. Very nice ride man. I'm with Kyle though..fix up them holes in the rear bumper :)

Unlimitedsp 10-07-2009 02:18 PM

nice job, cant believe how clean it is.

zedartwo 10-07-2009 02:23 PM

yea it was clean when you bought it, the little upgrades you did make it look that much cleaner and give it the unique look. nice job!

jlcolvin 02-28-2010 07:29 AM

on with the fun stuff...please excuse the dirty blazer

and the after (just the front lowered 2"...took longer than expected so the rear gets dropped 3" today):

just a shock comparison (forgot to get the other old bushing on the old one but you get the gist):

sporty_drew 02-28-2010 05:48 PM

I'm liking it a lot. Wish we didn't have rust here :(

Keep the pictures coming :D

ABN31B 02-28-2010 10:21 PM

OMG! that thing is pristine!

Welcome to the forum!
(heads up like 10 of the pics in the first post are broken)

jlcolvin 03-01-2010 07:13 AM

thanks for the comments and the heads up, think I got them all fixed now

jlcolvin 03-08-2010 08:36 PM

MTopper 03-10-2010 03:07 AM

thats a great looking truck. I'm really impressed by the work so far.

Great looking typhoon in the garage too:icon_hyper:

jlcolvin 03-11-2010 06:45 AM

thanks, I ordered 2" blocks for the rear yesterday to get rid of the reverse rake that I have goin on

Sisk 03-11-2010 06:59 AM

Clean your front rims...get rid of that brake dust :)

Looking good so far though. Is that as low as you're going?

RangerG 03-11-2010 05:39 PM

Your idea of a dirty truck is not the same as mine. (Yours always is clean)

That interior is amazing, looks real comfy. I like that Typhoon and Eclipse (Mazda RX7?) That you have in those pics. Nice little assembly of vehicles!

99blaz 03-11-2010 05:58 PM

Nice blazer, wicked clean if I ever found one in that nice of shape it would be in my driveway in a heartbeat.... my 99 aint even that clean lol.

jlcolvin 03-12-2010 06:52 AM

thanks everyone, to answer a few questions and respond to some comments :D :

once I put the 2" blocks on the rear that will more than likely be as low as I go (I'm still surprised the wife let me buy this kit...I guess the free shocks were what made the deal)

I'm trying to find some time to clean this beast, should be pretty soon I'll have some daylight when I get home from work (30 mile commute into work and 30 mile commute home means that its dark when I leave and dark when I get home...for now, the days are starting to get longer)

The Eclipse is my wife's, she loves it so I can't complain (that and it's paid for)...you can see more pictures here if you're interested in doing so...Wife's Car

and as for now I'm trying to decide if I want to keep my stock wheels, go with new style ZQ8's, or maybe even do some Corvette Wagon Wheels, still pretty undecided about it all. Another option was to paint my stock rims, perhaps a gun metal color with the silver lip. I don't know, I'm more or less leaning towards the ZQ8's though.
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...5zq8.sized.jpg

I would also like to get a roll pan and a new hitch to help clean up the back of the blazer

Sisk 03-12-2010 07:00 AM

Stick with the ZQ8's...they're awesome.

TheStig 03-12-2010 11:02 AM

The rims/tires in the original pix look great, dont change them

94-4x4 03-12-2010 11:15 AM

truck was extremely clean (from pics anyways) when bought, not only did you keep it clean, you put your own twist on of cleanliness on it, lovin it man!

+1

imo those wheels are nice, but the ones you got, flow with the truck better.

jlcolvin 03-14-2010 05:36 PM

little update:

got tired of looking at the old crusty drum brakes, so I decided to "fix" them until I go through with a rear disc brake conversion

before:

after:
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0517.sized.jpg
http://s-seriesforum.com/albums/albu...0557.sized.jpg

took off the 3" blocks that I installed last weekend and put on 2" blocks to level it out and get rid of the squat

you may also notice that the blazer is clean :D

sporty_drew 03-14-2010 05:40 PM

Looks very nice. How low are you going?

old skool luvr 03-14-2010 06:55 PM

as everyone has already stated, that is one clean 2WD 4 door.

but like a few have already asked, i'm just gonna say it-you need to go lower.

don't bag it, just coils & 4" blocks would be nice. :icon_wink:

jlcolvin 03-14-2010 09:17 PM

thanks, that is as low as it is going. I didn't want to be slammed, just a little lower and "sportier" looking

oktain 03-14-2010 09:42 PM

ZQ8's are expensive though... If you're willing to pay it'd look good, the next thing I'd do after the roll pan is lok at ditching that rear spare... but that's just me.

kickme005 07-13-2010 09:31 AM

just woundering why did you drop the back down 3" but the front down 2" ? i want to lower my 95 blazer 4door 4wd. down 1" does that mean i got s to drop the rear 2"? but then what if i but stuff in the back. then wouldnt the rear b lower than the fron? just confused. aslo take the spare tire off the back and chang from 2wd to 4wd.

to drop it to have a level stance you would need 2inch blocks out back, if you load it up with lot of stuff it will sit lower. to lower it one inch all around you just need 1 inch blocks, then if you have a lot of stuff in the back, it will lower the rear more... lowering kits are made thinking you won't load anything up.

and why would he change from 2wd to 4wd?

the reason I lowered it 3" the first time was because there was a sale going on. If you bought a Stage 1 Lowering Kit you got 4 free Belltech Shocks. And I wanted to lower the front 2" and the only kit they had was a 2/3. So I bought a 2" block separately to level it after I noticed how much reverse rake I had.

I don't really have any other place for the spare tire so it has to stay where it is. And I already have a lowered "4wd" :D

Thanks again for all the comments

Project_95_Blazer 07-17-2010 08:19 AM

i like your project, you havent made any significant changes at all. all subtle changes most people wouldnt notice if you didnt tell them and it looks great. nice truck.

jlcolvin 07-19-2010 08:42 AM
