New vehicle, new project...
95 Blazer LS 4x4 Top Package 150,000 miles on it.
Well picked it up none running for a okay price. Already spent a good bit on it and still finding more and more things wrong with it. So today I checked everything to start making a list of what I am going to tackle. Spent a grand total of 2 hours JUST washing and I do mean just washing. This thing doesnt look like it was ever taken care of. From the owner prior to the person I got it from. The owners kid had it, and doesnt look like he was all that smart. Tons of ghetto rigged half ass fixes through out the truck. Dents and dings EVERYWHERE! interior carpets are horrible. so pictures of what I am up to so far. Washed heavily into the wheel wells, under the hood, and under the truck as far was i could go. The door jams...where bad, I think something lived in them at one point. http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/2378/beforent.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7277/before2m.jpg http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/8886/before3.jpg http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/8...jamsbefore.jpg http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/9594/underhoodbefore.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4899/...oodbefore2.jpg http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/4...oodbefore3.jpg The interior left much to be desired. Oil and HEAVY mud stains everywhere. Got a good bit of the mud stains out and the oil I could only lighten up some. Need to really invest into a Heat Extractor, but there kinda expensive. http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/9690/beforeinterior.jpg http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/4...einterior2.jpg http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/6513/beforeinterior3.jpg http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/3...einterior4.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/6567/beforeinterior5.jpg Well after relentless cleaning, tons and tons of mudd and grime I finally finished. Once under the hood was dry, I dressed it and boy what a difference! http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/9...rhoodafter.jpg http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/573...hoodafter2.jpg http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/4...hoodafter3.jpg http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/8...hoodafter4.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/2014/underhoodafter5.jpg Door Jams after... http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/2...rjamsafter.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/3599/doorjamsafter2r.jpg http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/481...jamsafter3.jpg Interior After... http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/7...riorafter2.jpg http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/1...eriorafter.jpg http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/5...riorafter3.jpg http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/4...riorafter4.jpg Then just a general after shot... http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/8752/roofafter.jpg http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/4227/afterg.jpg Anyways up on the list for stuff to fix next...going to wait before I do "aftermarket" style things to it.... until after I get alot of the small things fixed. Already removed the pin stripes. And the gay chrome fender well covers, and about 6 stickers on the back. Before I do a full fledge detail on this thing, which just after cleaning it brought ALOT of shine back to it. A few panels need wet sanding, and buff the whole thing. But before, all the plastic chrome pieces along the trim, all the clear is peeling on ALL of them. Going to strip the rest of the clean off them, and paint the plastic pieces make them look better. Alot of the painted roof rack pieces are peeling going to scuff them up a good bit and paint them as well. Then follow that up with a full detail. Probably at the same time as I replace the pass. front headlight, going to scuff up the chrome grill piece and paint it. Was planning on swapping it to the 98+ blazer/s10 style front grill, but just going to deal with what I have. Then from there....one weekend, I cut the exhaust off at the nearest hanger I can find, and put on a muffler/turn down. Then a nice K&N intake...after that...dont know! |
Nice... Good job on the clean up, I detailed mine the first day I bought it, didnt make too much of a difference because it was an older gentleman who took care of it, but each time I wash it, it gets a little sexier.... So dont worry too much about the interior appearance... I would think it could be pretty cheap to pick up new carpet on ebay for like 100 bucks... But nice blazer...
Too bad you didnt keep the chrome fender covers on... lol |
Luckly I own a detailing business, so after I paint the plastic chrome trim pieces and the plastic chrome pieces on the front, I am going to clay bar the whole thing, wet sand both front fenders, and misc. spots around the truck, then go at it with a full 3 stage buff, 1 45 minute coat of sealant and probably 2 coats of wax.
Also I did not think the chrome fender trim pieces looked that good, kinda cheap looking. Plus I plan on painting and clearing the chrome pieces on the side trim and around the grill black, so give it a nice white/black combo look. But this is a whole new ball game for me...going from... http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/7408/blackmustang.jpg To this... http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/7...chlighting.jpg To the blazer...its a little bit of change of pace! |
very nice, it seems you have the twin to my truck lol (also a White '95 4x4 LS) and honestly if its anything like mine its a great truck, just sucks someone obviously abused her that badly. I painted my grill and personally I think it looks that much better than the chome.
Good luck with her and welcome. |

Good luck with her and welcome. Going to have to pay someone to do some serious PDR work on the truck eventually! :icon_doh: |
Not much more satisfying than cleaning your truck till she shines!

if you think the shots i have look bad, better be glad i did not take pictures of the driver front fender, driver front and rear door. Kid hit something on the fender, put two large dents in it, and did not stop so put a few good dents in the driver door, a small 6" crease and a 10-12" crease in the driver rear door, then one final LARGE dent under the trim before he stopped.
