so im looking to get new hubs at one point or another. there is no driveshaft to the front axle so im not worried about wrecking any gears right now. its a world away from mudding right now. i have a ton of stuff to do before i do anything too serious with it right now. lol

so far my list consists of:

New hubs,
fix the oil pressure gauge,
transfer all the goodies from my 74 engine to this one,
move the heater into the other truck,
get new head lights,
3" body lift
transfer the tailgate
attach the radiator some how,
fix holes on roof or just attach a light bar,
get a battery clamp
replace the windshield, (its cracked)
replace the steering stabilizer, (bent only allowing a little right turning)
install wheel wells
fix the holes in the floor
install seats and seatbelts
fix the gas gauge
and finally fix the temp gauge.

its a long list but after im done with it ill be able to drive it on the street. and up to procs. lol. procopoloza here i come!!!

sounds like you have a plan of action at least, so that is good. Should just be a matter of time and money now. And I forgot you have a 203 in the 74 so yeah you can't even use hubs off it since it don't have none. Best off buying new, let me see if I maybe got a set laying around somewhere. I also got to thinking that I might have more K5 parts stashed in the storage unit some place so when I get a chance to look I'll let you know. I think this thing should be ready long before Procapalooza, hopefully we'll get her out there 1st day we can! Oh and Zach do you need a CB for this truck? :D

i think ill use the one i have in my car. lol. im in the middle of exchanging the heater box now and it fits!!! i just have to figure out how im going to do the wiring and all that jazz.

oh and after taking the stabalizer off it still wont steer to the right as much as it should.... im still trying to figure it out and will start another thread about it elsewhere.

so after working all day on this thing i have got the heater/blower box in the truck. it fits!!!! and since i had some time to kill i transfered over the spark plug wires and valve covers. inside the covers is way cleaner than the 74. after i got all cleaned up i took it for a spin out back just to see how the tires do uphill. i only have the boggers on the rear so i just wanted to see how they would do and with great success. those tires DIG!!!! i even got some pics of what it looked like after 3 passes through the pit.

Looks fun... but why do you have small tires on the front?

Um, one question. I dont know if you noticed it or not, but that bumper aint exactly straight, and i dont know if thats the body or core support mounts or if its hit somethin, but my friend has the same kinda thing. With his 6 inch lift on his 86 k10, he cant run 35s cuz one side of the bumper is pushed tight to his front panels. The guy before hit a deer. That might be somethin to look at too

i have the small tires on the front so i dont rub like hell when i try moving it around the driveway. and it makes working on the engine a whole lot easier than needing a ladder to climb into the engine bay. and the bumper isnt crooked the body is. its only held on with 3 body bolts. thats why i have to get a body lift. the body is kind of crooked on the frame so whenever it gets any flex the front clip jumps over the bumper. i just have to jack it up and push it back down into place. so yeah. a body lift and new body mounts is definatly a first before i put this thing on the street.

so instead of working on things i should have been doing. i decided to do a mod that poped in my head. so i got to work on transplanting the headlights from my 74 into the 83!!!

ta da!!!! there were some holes that look like they were there for this purpose. and they plug right into the stock wiring harness. now all i have to do is cut and splice the old connecters from the old truck so i can have all the lights on at once, maybe... anyways here is what it looks like with lights off

i think they looks sweet. you can also see that i put the body back under the bumper. and i put a bolt in it this time. just to try and keep it from shifting on me till i get the body lift with new body mounts lol.

oh and i also took the th400 out of the back of the truck. i was sick of having to move it around all the time. thank god for cherry pickers!!!

oh and incase anybody was wondering what 38.5 boggers would look like on their 2nd gen.
