Well started on the bumper today! made pretty good progress. When im done i should have enough pictures to write a how-to. I got the center piece welded and i got the main passenger side pieces done (two cut off wheels later) but i only wanted to cut out the passenger side so i know exactly what the driver side has to be and ill cut out the rest with the acetylene torch when i get it tomorrow.

I only got two pictures, stupidly i didn’t take one of the pieces tacked together before i had to take it off and throw my bumper back on there. But these ones show where the mounts are and how i did the middle piece.

Took this picture then realized i put the tube in the wrong spot -_- It needed to be a tube width towards the edge for both of them so ground it off and did it again.

Heres where im putting the receivers that the smaller tube obviouslt slides into, if i didnt have a body lift i would slide it in the frame. I didnt weld them on there yet so that i can take them off and put my bumper back on. but my plan is to drill a couple holes in each of them and put bolts through so i can take it off.

Looks like a good start! I can't wait to see the final product I love the bumper you are basing yours off of and I will probably do something similar when I get around to mine. I have to wait till we get back from vaca in August before I get to spend any more money on the blazer bosses orders!! Keep up the nice work and please post lots of pics.

Just another update, i decided to scratch the acetylene torch idea because i didnt wanna do that much grinding so my friends dad is taking the pieces into his school on monday and cutting them out with the plasma cutter. ill still have to cut some small pieces out with the grinder but thats fine.

I also ordered my LED's for all the dash lights. i got red for the gauges and blue for the HVAC. it will match the blue and red lights on my head unit, so those should be here on monday.

Im also thinking about ordering the Clevis mounts for the bumper from HERE cuz i found a 10% discount code (jf10) and it would only be about 30$ shipped for the pair which isnt bad. then i dont have to make them.

Heres some test fitting with card board. The pieces will be angled in more but the tow hooks are in the way right now.

And thats it so far! hoping to do some more tomorrow, if not Thursday on my day off.

EDIT:
After looking at it and playing with paint i think i want to take everything thats covered in black off. Hmm thoughts?

Yeah that would make it really cheap for you. Oh and im using 3/16" metal plate and the receivers that im using are 3/8" or so.

Tomorrow im hoping to get pretty much everything tacked together and all the gussets done on the receiver that attaches to the bumper.

Idk if that will happen tho, while i was grinding yesterday i got a really small piece of metal in my eye (yes i did have glasses on) so i just had that removed oh about an hour ago lol. If i need to be on my pain pills i dont wanna be working on the bumper. so far its not too bad tho.

EDIT:

Just some more playing with paint so Idk about you guys but i think tubing like this would look mean AF. I do have a tube bender that is capable of pulling this off too
