I once had to drive around for a week in a car with no reverse. It was possible but definitely took some thought about where to park. LOL

No reverse isn't to bad, just hope the trans holds out for another week. I went to go home after work tonight and I had a flat tire. Aired it up and it has a split sidewall. To be fair my 35 inch swampers are 20+ years old. So I swapped back to my 31s. It looks off now but it does drive better.

It looks so sad with the 31s on it. Hoping to get some progress on the back blazer this weekend.

Well a small victory today! I managed to get the top 2 bell housing bolts out of my black blazer. Then went to take out the torque converter bolts and the engine is seized solid! I can't budge it. So I'm hoping I can get the trans out with the torque converter still bolted to the engine.

Success!

I have been working on vehicles since before I was a teenager 30+ years. This trans removal has been one of the toughest things I have done in a long time! It doesn't help that the engine was seized. Now to do it all again to the jimmy and install this trans.

How did you finally manage to get it out?

So I ended up unbolting the body and raising it to make sure I had room to pull the trans without hurting anything.

The jimmy is fully functional again! I got the trans swapped this weekend. The 3" body lift made things soo much easier! If anyone is debating on a body lift I'd say do it. If for nothing else the ease of working on things!

All my plans have been either rearranged or put on hold lol. The plan was to pull the engine out of the jimmy for the blazer. Then the trans went out in the wife's tahoe, we needed a running 4x4, so it was quicker and easier to get the trans in the jimmy. I found a trans for the Tahoe and went and picked it up Friday. So ill be swapping trans in the Tahoe this coming weekend. So to answer your question Don, I still need to get the seized engine out of the blazer. Then before I do anything else to it I'm going to install a body lift for 2 reasons. First to make it alot easier to work on! Second to make sure it will clear my 31s. The plan for the blazer is still to get it back on the road with the running gear from the jimmy. Just not sure when that will be.
