Default Quick and dirty tool rack

Planning a trip to Utah so whipped this out in a few hours with stuff on hand. 2" x 5/16" u-bolts, some 1" flat stock and associated nuts and washers. Carriage bolts holding jack were 1/2" x 1". (But might e 9/16 x 1. I forgot.) The squared shank fit in the jack nicely to hold the bolt from turning.

The fuel tanks were with the factory extensions. The 3.5 gallon was attached using a cut length of 2" pipe between the tire carrier and mount and bolted through the factory mount. Next time I take it apart I will add more photos if anyone is interested.

Yes it does add lots of weight to the tire rack but I re-bushed the hinges with copper 2 years ago. It sags a little when open but it is from where the brackets bolt into the side of the body. Will only be used when travelling, otherwise most of it comes off...

Love this.

I'm copying for my records for when I finally get around to getting my rear tire rack installed.

Hmm. I think I need to learn to weld!
