Looks like a good project you have on have on your hands there :D Hoping to follow along. Pics are a must, but BAD pics make the changes that much more powerful. |
Oh yeah. You'll need a trashcan handy when you see the rotten pieces. You WILL lose everything you ate for the last 2 weeks.

This is the front where the parking lights are. I took off the black trim with the chrome on top because it was dry-rotted and nasty.

(It's the same on both sides)---The red text says- "Supposed to be chrome" and "Dry-rotted, falling apart" http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/8945/dsc00991o.jpg http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/2624/dsc00989hy.jpg Where my recovery hooks go. http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/4656/dsc00993y.jpg http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6194/dsc00994v.jpg My grill, which needs to be re-painted. http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/6403/dsc00996w.jpg http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/9706/dsc00995hn.jpg This is the place the Blazer came from, it's comin off.(Already took off Chevrolet, but Blazer is staying) http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/3995/dsc00990g.jpg And finally, my hood. It needs to be re-painted thanks to some kids next door to my aunt. Before my aunt gave it to me, it didn't run and sat in her driveway for a year. Well, last new years eve, the kids next door put a big ole thing of firecrackers on her hood while she was away. So the little ****heads destroyed the paintjob. http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/936/dsc00992z.jpg The red text says "That is not rain my friends, that is bubbled up clearcoat |
Today was quite productive.
I took the grill off: http://img693.imageshack.us/img693/3493/dsc00997y.jpg http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6913/dsc00998aj.jpg Then I got the bottom bumper off: http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/2538/dsc01000pa.jpg http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/1786/dsc01001f.jpg http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/1989/dsc01002f.jpg ^(This entire build was started because I wanted to take off that black liscence plate holder and clean it. Of course they had to drill it in from the inside of the bumper.) http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/9350/dsc01003jf.jpg http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/7613/dsc01005fj.jpg http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/7199/dsc01006r.jpg ^(P.S. ABN31B [Curtis if I may] that is the effect of 'Back To Black' on a 14 year old piece of faded plastic. I need to find a picture of it before applying BTB.) http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/3355/dsc01004b.jpg ^(Then I find out why my front end was shifted in and over towards the driver side. That little bugger is broken. The non-broken one was on the passenger side.) http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/7416/dsc01007m.jpg ^(Lets play "Spot the recovery hook") http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/3668/dsc01008mz.jpg ^(My cleaned fog lights/lamps.) http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/7692/dsc01011jm.jpg http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/9139/dsc01010u.jpg ^(My lights have never been that bright [except on high beams]. These are normal beams. I cleaned the lenses with "Scratch Out". I clears up yellowed headlights and removes clearcoat scratches.) AND WE ALL HAVE TO THANK PB BLASTER!!!! http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/1711/dsc01009z.jpg |
Now I just have to figure out how to take this piece off:

nice to see your work coming along well. I should have done one of these threads when while I was doing my blazer.
its your lucky day. I just so happen to have a set of rear bumper ends in my apartment. 4 bolts on the top, 1 on the bottom on a little bracket, and i think a couple holding it to the fender lip. |
NON-monofiliment fishing line OR dental floss to cut it like a cheese wire. Heat to soften up the adhesive behind it, and good gone to clean it up.
as for the Back to Black, OMG! :icon_eek: that stuff rocks :D after that nose job, your truck will be all new! the work is coming along great too BTW! |
Looking better already. I like that back to black stuff. If only I had something to try it on.
