either steering shaft works as long as its off a xj cherokee. The lengths are the exact same and the different styles swap out on the xjs. Only difference is the small notch has to be ground out even on those. They both attach the same way and one isn't any stronger or better than the other.

The yj wrangler has the same looking shaft but is about 6 inches longer. It can be used but has to be cut down.

There's a side by side so you can see the differences. Most guys want the smaller ended one for more room around headers and such. My 87 blazer has the yj long one cut down to length, my 91 sonoma has the smaller ended one, and dads 93 s10 has a larger ended one. I know for a fact they all fit and work fine.

Good luck. You start pricing those parts you will see why a $20 junk yard jeep shaft is a nice option.

The shafts are keyed so they only fit one way. If the alignment is off it need to be aligned.

Holy hell they are proud of that thing. I aint gave over $30 for any of the 3 I got. That's the one tho.

The jeeps you are looking for looks like this

The one off this will NOT work

Also this is for first gens. The 2nd gens are a bit different and you have to use the s-series upper with a jeep lower to get rid of the rag joint. Different process and I'm not really up to date on it. I don't own one so I don't research on mods for them.

yep, jeep used the same steering boxes as gm so that's why this works like it does. Matter of fact jeeps of that era used many gm parts, engines, steering columns, steering boxes, and so on lol.

Junk yard down here has em for like 25 apiece,if you guys wanna pay the cost plus shipping i can get em for you.

Im sure its been posted, but i test fitted one from a jeep to a old s10. It hooked up just fine and dandy, but the top side that mounts to the steering columns holes wouldnt line up. Im guessing i need to either drill a hole or something for a pin or bolt to go in? I dont want it sliding off.
