Swapping to ZR2 rear axle
3 Attachment(s)
I finally got my zr2 rear axle installed yesterday. It has 4.56 gears and a Detroit True Trac limited slip. Now all I have to do is swap the front differential out for my Zr2 front diff with 4.56 gears. But I'm gonna wait until I have time to swap (just about all) front suspension components before I swap the front diff. I have all the parts, just no time to tear my DD apart. Everything on the axle was plug and play. I did have to swap the passenger side bake line out from my old axle to the Z axle, because the Z's was cut. Then I swapped my almost new emergency brake shoes from my old axle to the Z. Here's a few pics, I'll post a few more up tomorrow.

Just curious, what size tires are you running/plan on running?

Stuff some 35's!
^^ in all seriousness though, it's going to be badass with the new stance |
Are you using new u-bolts?
|

If I get the chance I'm definitely putting 35's on, I'll have to do a lot more fender cutting, but they'll look completely BadAss!!!! Here's a side picture of the tire sticking out and my new Street Scene Speed Grille!!!!!!! |

Also, does anyone know a trick to getting the driver side CV joint off a ZR2 differential? I've used a long pry bar on it, but it won't budge. Might have to get out the air hammer, but I don't want to ruin the CV unless I have to, cause I don't need it. |
I've heard that you need to tap on the cup while you pry to get the clip to bounce out of the groove. Haven't tried it myself.
