How To: Lowering in Photoshop
 

This tutorial is to teach you how to take a normal car and slam it in reason to the ground. This is a simple tutorial that anyone can do. I will be using the same Blazer I used in the first tutorial ( Wheel Transfer in Photoshop).

First things first. Open Photoshop and open the vehicle you will be using. Any angle can be used for lowering. I will be using the 3/4 view once again.

Step 1: Lassoing

First you will want to grab the Polygonal Lasso. Start at the far right of your picture at the back bumper just above the ground or just below the ground where the background meets. You want to follow the vehicle going around the wheel arches above the wheels them self (above the wheel wells). Now go all the way along to the front of the vehicle to the front bumper/ fender to the ground again ( either above or below the background). Follow the outside edge of the photo to the top, go along the top of the photo meeting the far right and go along that side down to where you first started then across the ground until you complete the lasso. Just like the picture below.

Step 2: Lowering

Now that the picture has a big flashing line going around it we can move it down but first make sure the background color is black. You do not need to copy the layer, doing it this way makes one less step to follow and makes it easier in the long run. Now choose the arrow with the plus sign in the top left of Photoshop. This item will allow us to move the selection downward, at the same time it will be getting lower to the ground. Lower it but don’t lower it to much or else (like in real life the tires will be rubbing the inside of the wheel well( especially if you have bigger wheels in the picture)). And you can’t tell people that it has an air bag system especially if the picture can’t show it. The picture shows what I am talking about.

Step 3: Completing the picture

As you can see the vehicle has been lowered to the ground. Now you can deselect the picture. The vehicle is almost done. If you look at where you lowered it in the wheel wells you will see the black from the background. This area can now be filled in with a dark grey not yet a black. Use the Lasso tool again to select where you want to paint otherwise you will have paint in the wrong area and it will appear is if you rushed at it. Also add shadowing on the rims under the lip of the arch with the Dodge tool. Use shadow and highlights as your option around 50% opacity in the options bar at the top. Just like the picture below.

I don't know how you are putting the pictures in, but they are really small and they arent clickable. But great tutorials by the way. I just used the wheel transfer one to do my first photoshop edit. Good job and thanks a lot!

Great tutorial, although you can tell where you manipulated the background. To fix that you could use the clone stamp tool and copy parts of the bg to the parts that look different, to make it perfect.
