3m headlight cleaner
 

just used the 3m product and it works great

hey did u take a before and after pic of the same headlight? would give me and likely others a much better idea of what exactly it would do to say that drivers side light that's pretty white... been considering this since mine's going yellow and i'm about to put HID's in them.

Yo man sup? Did you use the 3m Headlight Restoration System? How does it work? In other words: is it easy to apply?

all you need is 1500 and 2000 grit wet sandpaper and a small thing of rubbing compound. maybe 10-15 for everything.

yeah it pretty easy to apply you apply it with a drill .the two pics i posted the pass side (the one with the miller lite) is the after and the driver side is the before. no its not a rip off harbor freight down the street from me had it for 20 bucks and its enough to do the headlights and tail lights.

i didnt use the 3m stuff i used the cheaper brand that was just the solution i already had an extra buffer pad i used on it and the difference was like night and day.

well, if you buy a big container of rubbing compound like i did for 7 bucks still comes out cheaper than the premade kits.

'fraid not brother. @ least not for the lights that i did in my Buick a few weeks ago.

i bought the 3M kit @ Canadian tire ($29.99 i think........had it for awhile) and i could've used some 400 grit instead of the 500 grit that came with the kit.

while the 3M kit does seem to be a little on the conservative side for doing 2 lights, i really feel if they gave you 10 pieces of 500 grit (instead of the 6 you get) i could've done both lights without having to get a few more sheets from my buddy @ his body shop. there was plenty of 800 grit for the finishing scruff (4 pieces, i think), and that 3000 grit green/grey pad is still useable, plus plenty of buffing compound left.

my friend (@ the body shop) told me i should use some of that sealer that 3M offers, to seal & protect the lens. since it's sooooo bloody expensive (something like $75 for a 3 oz bottle), i'll wait 'til the warmer weather comes back around, hit the lights with a quick 3000 buff & polish them back up again, then seal them with that 3M sealer he has.

i'm definately a fan of the 3M kit! though the lenses in the Blazer are pretty clean, i plan on doing them in the Spring, even though i get the odd ass-hat that flashes my HID's now. :icon_razz:

man they really give you some coarse paper hey. lights on my jimmy were not bad at all, so the 1500 and 2000 grit worked fine for me and cost half the price.
